The article entitled “A literature review of conflict communication causes, costs,The article entitled “A literature review of conflict communication causes, costs,benefits and interventions in nursing” written by Brinkert (2010) which was published in the Journal of Nursing Management proffered pertinent issues relative to presenting a review of related literature on the subject of conflict communication. The article was replete with presenting relevant issues about conflict in the nursing profession. Since the author presented a literature review, he used authoritative secondary sources of previous studies and researches that discussed the causes, costs of unmanaged conflict, the benefits of normal conflict communication, as well as the identified strategies which were deemed most effective in addressing conflicts encountered by nurses. One of the most relevant findings was stated as “while conflict cannot be entirely eliminated from nursing, particular sources of destructive conflict may be decreased or eliminated” (Brinkert, 2010, p. 151). Likewise, the author revealed that conflict communication is a facet in the nursing profession that remains underdeveloped. The content is highly beneficial to nurse managers in terms of its extensive and comprehensive content that included determining the origin, nature, causes, costs and other interventions and strategies that would be helpful in resolving conflict within the nursing profession. ...

This paper sought to discuss the importance of policy, protocol and procedure manuals in hospital wards; to define the term ‘skill mix’, and explain why ‘team nursing’ is ‘skill mix’; to discuss the important avenues of government in relation to health services and the meaning and implications of information technology for nursing care.
Some of the factors that drive rates of absenteeism and nurse turnover include perceptions of work burdens, lack of role clarity, low wages and benefits, lack of trust and collaboration with colleagues, poor communication with management regarding critical issues, and absence of career opportunities (Rowland and Rowland 1997, p.530).
When different people are brought together in a team, invariably, people will have a different mix of beliefs, lifestyles, values, ethnic backgrounds, and goals that may interact with one another to lead to inevitable conflicts of different categories. With the remarkable changes and the economic impact that this area is going through, in the healthcare delivery systems, it is expected that there would be heightened professional values and competition for resources.
Conflicts with a team arise due to lack of clarity of goals and objectives. For instance, if team members are given responsibilities without logic being explained to themselves and to others, they would not be able to give commitment to work. Also, teams that lack
