With reference to the studies conducted by Tomey and Alligood (2002), it is noted that Florence Nightingale is one of the major theorist in the field of nursing and she is well known for her environmental theory, which stipulates that the environment surrounding an individual is a major determinant of the individual’s well-being or health status.
According to Tomey and Alligood (2002), the main concepts related to the Nightingale’s theory stipulated that the environment comprises of all factors including social, psychological, and physical factors, and hence, an individual’s health can be maintained at a desirable status by controlling or influencing the surrounding environment. The other key concept of the Nightingale’s theory stipulates that nurses are fully responsible for controlling patients’ environment by providing them with balanced diet, clean surrounding, warmth, and even fresh air.
With reference to the writings by Evelyn and Melanie (2002), it is stated that another notable contributor to the body of knowledge in the field of nursing is Virginia Henderson, who is best known for her theory on the nature of nursing. From this point it is evident that caring, which is the core principle of nursing is possible only by conscious effort by the nursing staff to not only preserve, but also enhance caring through various aspects of professional and nursing practice. It would be appropriate to say that the profession of nursing has escalated to the present level because of immense contributions from several nursing theorists.
She was the founder of Orem Model of Nursing through which she imparted several principles to her students in the profession of nursing. Her theories mainly evolved around self-care which can be used in primary care setting and rehabilitation settings. Her immense contribution to the field of nursing has made her one of the imminent nursing theorists in the world.
In particular, various theorists, psychologists, and experts have attempted to define nursing and the role of nurses, and this paper is an effort to understand different aspects of some of such theories with an innovative contest. Specifically, the paper is about a contest ‘American Nursing Idol’ that included various nursing theorists from different states of the country, and now only three theorists have been able to reach in the finals of the contest at West Georgia.
A discussion of the details of her theory shall also be explained, including the implications of these ideas to the nursing practice. The use of her theory in the contemporary context shall also be explained. The impact of this theory on a personal level shall also be discussed.

According to studies, metaparadigm concepts of nursing include concepts like humanity, health, nursing, and environment (Gunther, 2011). These are vital concepts as described by nursing theorists. In my personal perspective, these concepts of nursing play an important role in the life and survival of human beings.
Patients, or as Orem calls them, “nursing clients,” are human beings whose health problems have resulted in limitations that render them unable to participate in continuous self-care, or that result in needing others to provide their care. A
arious hospitals, she found that while they generally were able to perform their job functions, they could not articulate the true purpose of nursing. Orem’s intention was to determine an appropriate focus for the profession that centered on individual patients. This theory
that are likely to affect the attainment of desired goals of patients’ growth among these factors are roles of different players, space, stress, and time. King’s model is divided into three main systems of interactions including interpersonal, personal, and social systems
The Jean Watson theory was published in 1988 in human science and care in nursing. The theory aims at aligning the humanistic and health requirements in the field of nursing. The theory creates an understanding in the nursing field in four approaches; health, human being, nursing and environment.
