On Medical Surgical Type II DM Patients

The study was conducted for six months in Netherlands and four other centers in United Kingdom. Two stages were used in the procedure of the experiment. The first stage involved machine inspection and device analysis while the second stage involved observations on the metabolic effects of the device to the patients. The satisfaction of the patients was then obtained through a questionnaire. Eighty patients took part in the study for six months and no common errors occurred in the use of the device. The patient satisfaction increased from the beginning until the end of the experiment. The study then concluded that accu chek combo system was efficient and comfortable for the users and the treatment improved in terms of glycemic control (Kerr et al., 2010). The study made is a mixed approach as the quantitative part was conducted when the frequency of hypoglycemic patients occurred in the study based on the qualitative survey which is the Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire. The apparatus showed how it can bring comfort and support in the glucose level of diabetic patients. The study had proven the efficiency of the device as a support for medical professionals in assisting the diabetic patients with their health. ...
The procedure was done by starting off with goal setting consultations of the patients with the nurses with the guidance of Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale. That was made by United Kingdom Medical Research Council to analyze and evaluate the created interventions. Before the actual performance of the study, literature review was conducted to firmly serve as the foundation for establishing the direction of the study. The first part of the experiment started in spring 2003 where a mini intervention was conducted to check if the project would be feasible. That part involved two nurses and eight patients. The research prior to the performance of the intervention showed an improvement in the efficiency of the nurses and improvement of the patients via the glycosylated hemoglobin analysis within three months. Behavioral changes among the participants were noted and consultation with goal evaluation helped the patients truly. Most of the parts of the first stage of the intervention were proven effective with minor adjustments for the less effective parts. Second stage trial is necessary to retry the stage one trial, evaluate and create alternatives (Sturt et al., 2006). Having two stages proved to be effective as a practice that is proven to be helpful must be subjected to further studies and serve as a basis for developing intervention variations. The study is more qualitative than quantitative as it focused on goal setting efficacy and the importance of preclinical research. Another study was conducted regarding strategies in improving the health of patients with Type II Diabetes. Eleven strategies were analyzed in the study and their impacts on glycemic control were noted. The databases of Medline ...Show more
