Cognitive-Perceptual Pattern interview Robbie has had some hearing difficulty before and had to get tubes put into his ears. As if now he has no hearing difficulty. He has a lazy eye on his right eye, and his last eye and ear exam at a doctor's appointment in January 2014. His mother stated that he is going to have eye surgery soon, however, Robbie had no difficulty in vision and he does not wear glasses. His mother said that she does not let Robbie spend much time watching TV. Even though Robbie likes to play spelling games, he has limited computer and TV time.

Our client speaks fluent English and he also started learning Spanish last year at his school. In the early years of life, the learning ability of a child is dependent on his intelligence, hereditary, and environment. According to Piaget, the child between 7 to 11 years falls into the conduct operation stage. Since the client is not having hearing problems his interacting quality is good which will facilitate his learning ability. Since the perception skill of the client is good, he can’t face problems in analyzing subjects. The client’s ability to understand language depends on the auditory ability and hence the child has no trouble hearing, he can use his potential to progress in learning as he is intelligent.

He has no memory change; he has a very good long and short-term memory. Because of his good long-term memory, he had won the spelling bee competition in his first semester in first grade. He has a good coping mechanism; he never complains about anything, his mother says that he has a good pain tolerance. When it comes to decision-making, Robbie talks it over with his parents first and gets their input. The client is a tactile learner and learns best when he does something himself. He is very intelligent and loves spelling out words, has no learning disabilities and he is academically doing well at school. . Piaget suggests that children with disability need assistance from parents to understand their strengths and weaknesses.

Children with hearing disabilities can have delays in developing a theory of mind due to delayed language skills. As the client has the hearing ability is learning skills will progress better. The cognitive functioning of the client is normal and he cannot have problems in social interaction. They have lower reading skills and can have underdeveloped language skills. The client can have problems in concentration as his eye is not functioning efficiently. The language learning ability of a child is based on hearing and visual facility as the pronunciation of words cannot be understood appropriately without hearing skills.

So special attention need on language skills for the client as he is not perfect with eyesight. Self-concept self-perception Pattern interview The client admits that he has high self-esteem and has a lot of friends at school, but he also stated that there are times that he has felt uncomfortable and anxious around the tallest kids at his school. He even refused to play with them sometimes. Erikson has given insight into the stages of personality development in a child. The stage of development for the client in industry vs.

inferiority. The client’s personal and social task needs to be enhanced to avoid inferiority in him. The client had a cleft palate and is a little short and underweight for his age. However, he never had a problem with body image and any problem with self-esteem. Since he has no self–esteem issues. He believes he is successful, worthy, and capable. The client likes being the only boy and the youngest one in the house and his sisters spoil him so much. Here, it looks like the client likes attention and he is getting it in ample amount which increases his self–concept.

A good relationship with family and friends evokes a positive self-concept in the client. This would give him confidence, control of mind and body, and motivation. Robbie has so many friends at school and outside school. He does well in school, but there are times when he feels nervous, intimidated, and annoyed. This happens when he gets a bad grade and he feels a little bit down, but this does not last for long. It is essential for the teacher and family to praise him for what he has achieved as he is a child with certain health problems.

Crisis can give a negative impact on note client and he can get nervous and depressed as long as Erikson‘s theory goes. This also can put a lot of pressure on the client and can defect his learning ability. He is very competitive when it comes to school. Regardless of him going through multiple bone graft surgery, as a little boy, he managed to get good grades and stay on top of everything. Since he is doing well at academics he needs to be given good appreciation and moral support from family and teachers.

The client stated that even though he has a lot of good friends, recently he had experienced criticism and declined self-esteem from one of his classmates. This is a crucial situation as criticism can have a dangerous effect on the client due to his eye and hearing problem and can lower his self–esteem. Because of his undersized body and hearing disability, he can be easily negatively influenced by criticism. But his family always supports him and tells him not to pay attention to those kids at school.

Our client tries his best to be happy and never feels as though is losing hope. Most of the time he is secure and very respectful to his teacher and fellow students. The client needs to distance themself from criticism and should be kept in a healthy environment where he can nurture and develop. Sexual-Reproductive Pattern interview The sexual reproductive pattern is not appropriate for his age, but he is aware that there is a difference between a girl and a boy.
