Previous studies have attempted to establish a concept analysis of pain using Walker and Avant’s method, and these studies indicate that pain is a subjective and personal, often stressful experience (Mahon, 1994, p. 14). Other elements which relate to pain were however, not described, including the definition of pain, its function, pain responses, and impact of pain.
