My decision of selecting nursing as a profession holds a resemblance to my goal to serve the community members. I became quite aware of the wide range of opportunities that are embedded within this particular profession. However, my choice of nursing as a profession was mainly because of the prominent roles that it serves towards ensuring the well being of the people.
The nursing profession is viewed to be the most prominent one considering the importance of roles along with responsibilities associated with it. It will be vital to mention in this regard that the roles of the nurses are not limited to only a particular dimension, rather these are dispersed in various domains of the healthcare sector. The RNs are responsible for treating the patients regularly, ensuring their safety, keeping records of patients’ medical histories and assuring fast recovery among others. Though these roles are challenging collectively, the level of personal and professional development associated with the nursing profession also seems to be quite crucial at the same time (Vance, n.d.). The future growth prospect involved with this particular profession mainly influenced me to adopt nursing as a profession.
Historically, it is believed that nursing is synonymous with caring. Nursing was seen as a profession, which adopted by the people having the desire to provide effective care to others. Caring is defined as a science, which is associated with humanitarian principles. However, in course of time, the nursing profession transformed rapidly owing to the overall advancement of the healthcare sector. In the present day context, caring is not the only criterion to sustain in this profession, rather adherence to other professionalism principles is also crucial (Vance, n.d.).

Notably, I have gained extensive experience in the provision of care and support to patients without harm. The practice has also taught me the importance of being client centered and goal focused. Within the 20 year-year period, I pursued a Nursing Degree in a Health School.
Nursing to me is an occupation that includes individuals trained to offer nursing care services with due regard to respect, integrity, dignity, and compassion. As a calling, I believe that nursing has everything to do with helping those in need irrespective of their status in society, religious affiliations, or health conditions.
My philosophy also involves understanding the meta paradigm concepts of the nursing profession. These are areas of concern to the profession and these calls for proper understanding of the following concepts.
The other goal is to make the patient learn to live in a way that will facilitate his recovery, while the next goal is to facilitate increase of tolerance of patients to their daily activity. There are also some long-term goals that the nurses are focused on achieving in terms of treating the patient.
This paradigm came about as a result of the realization that all people are unique and autonomous and deserve a very high level of treatment that ensures that they receive the best of care. With the understanding that the paradigms refer to a generalized concept in nursing practice, the patient can best be likened to a customer of a supermarket, whose input into the supermarket through purchases made determines the level of profit that the supermarket will make.
From this research, it is clear that a meaningful personal philosophy of nursing encompasses attitudes, beliefs, and values in the life of self and others. Through a personal philosophy of nursing, a nurse becomes self-aware and was able to understand one’s beliefs, values, attitudes, emotions, the life of others, and the culture in which the nurse belongs.
Theoretical knowledge has made one aware that contemporary concepts in nursing emphasize holistic nursing care and patient-centred approach, among others. One’s personal nursing philosophy, therefore, confirms the competency and effectiveness of nurses to address the holistic needs of patients: not merely catering to health requirements, but being able to attend to emotional needs.
Witnessing people suffering from different ailments could be depressing so it is also important for nurse practitioners to be psychologically strong and resilient. Perhaps, what makes nursing even more difficult is the perception that they are
