? Observation Paper Sur Educational Observation Paper Introduction According to the observation of both groups, it has been identified that each of the groups are involved and associated with certain number of members in order to acquire an effective study of providing healthcare services. The Clinical Practice Council is one of those groups involved; it provides professional nursing practices through maintaining effectiveness and safety environment which is mutually beneficial both for the patients and the healthcare organization. The second group is represented by A.A which is a worldwide fellowship of men and women focusing on helping and supporting each other in order to provide an effective service for the individuals who try stop alcohol consumption. With regard to the responsibilities and services of these two groups, this paper intends to briefly describe the main groups’ functions and the roles of their leaders. Moreover, the paper will also focus on describing decision making process and identifying roles and responsibilities that are observed among the members of each group. In addition, the different roles of each individual member in each group have also been highlighted within the discussion. Purpose of Each Group The Clinical Practice Council focuses on providing evidence-based practice in clinical nursing activities in order to implement an advanced nursing practice for each client within the organization. The support group considerably engages to maintain an advanced clinical nursing practice as well as reliable patient care programs in keeping with American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice. In contrast, A.A. is a relatively small support group which focuses on practising various effective ways preventing alcohol addiction. The group is a worldwide fellowship of men and women which is structured with around 25 members. The main purpose of this group is to motivate the clients to stop drinking through communicating their individual experiences and consequences due to being addicted to alcohol. Role of the Leaders in Each Group The role of the leader in The Clinical Practice Council is to introduce the organizational policies and various processes and to obtain the judgment of each individual in the group in order to develop the policies and the procedures of the organization. The leader of this group has to make an effective decision of developing policies through depending upon the appropriate recommendations from the members of the group (Queensland Govt., 2012). In this context, the leader of the group provides a topic for discussion with the members and identifies the appropriate solutions of the raised issues. In the similar context, the role of the leader in A.A is to focus on the presentation of the members communicating in order to motivate and renounce alcohol addiction. In order to motivate the members, the leader of this group guides an effective method of communicating by encouraging the participants to talk freely and in an orderly way. The leaders also listen carefully to the problems of the participants and come up with proper solution and motivation for encouraging the participants to carry on their fights against alcohol addiction. Decision Making Process of Each Group The decision making process can be considered as one of the major steps for the leader in order to direct his/her team towards an effective and efficient way to achieve the goals and the objectives of the team. Moreover, the decision making process is also a crucial step for an organization in terms of identifying appropriate initiatives for the organization and enhancing performance of the team members in order to effectively achieve competitive advantage with the organizational offerings (Edwards & Elwyn, 2009). According to the observation of the case, it can be stated that the leaders of both the groups are significantly contributing by providing an effective support in order to enhance their performance to offer healthcare services to the patients. In the context of The Clinical Practice Council, the leader makes decisions by selecting the appropriate alternatives among the various opinions of his/her group members. Moreover, the leader of this group is highly involved in making strategic decisions; he or she employs an advanced process of rendering healthcare services. With this concern, it can be stated that the decision making process within this group is an effective and efficient process that will also be beneficial for both the patients as well as the organization. However, the decision making process in the support group A.A involves communicating and conducting demonstrations with regard to the processes that can be applied to deal with the clients’ alcohol addiction. The leader of this group notably conducts discussions related to the issues in order to prevent alcohol addiction. However, the leader could also implement various motivational steps for the members in order to represent the major consequences that could occur due to alcohol consumption. With this concern, the group can also highlight the aspect of the increasing annual death rate in the country due to the addiction. Moreover, the group also needs to focus on the involvement in various activities, such as detecting and creating awareness of vulnerable diseases caused by alcohol addiction, in order to effectively communicate with each client during their presentation. Therefore, the group needs to be more effective in terms of making decisions related to reducing the number of alcohol addicted persons. Different Roles Observed In Group Members in Each Group In the context of the roles that are played by the members of The Clinical Practice Council, it is observed that they are significantly involved in implementing and maintaining advanced standards of healthcare services to the prospective patients. Moreover, the major role of each individual of this group is to establish and to preserve a safety environment and nursing practices that can effectively be beneficial for the community, as well as the organization. In the context of A.A support group, the members are significantly focused to represent their individual knowledge and experiences regarding the affects and the consequences due to the addiction of alcohol. Moreover, the members of this group also assist by providing effective support to each other through conducting alcohol prevention motivational discussions. Process of Encouraging Participation by Each Group According to the observation of the activities that are conducted by the groups, it can be recognized that encouraging greater number of participants is an important step for the groups in terms of providing effective healthcare services. In the context of The Clinical Practice Council, the group highly concentrates to develop the policies and the regulations of healthcare services into an advanced and effective practice of nursing activities. The group members are found to be more supportive and encourage participation by gathering once in a month and they also resolve the issues efficiently. In the similar context, the members of A.A are also committed to support each individual in order to enhance the performance of delivering their own experiences regarding alcohol addiction. According to the observation of the performance of A.A, the members of the group are highly focused to ensure effective participation by resolving the queries of the participants regarding alcohol addiction. Assessment of the Support Groups in terms of Professional/Agency Groups With the consideration of the observation of two groups, it can be stated that the role and the purpose of each group are considerably different. The Clinical Practice Council performs effectively to develop healthcare policies and procedures in order to enhance the level of advanced care for the patients. Moreover, this formal group is also focused to generate innovative and exceptional strategies for improving the healthcare practices conforming to the activities performed professional/agency groups. On the contrary, A.A group was small in its stature and generally worked towards providing motivation and support to people regarding a particular issue i.e. alcohol addiction. Thus, it differs from usual professional/agency groups. Conclusion In keeping with the present increasing development in the healthcare service of the modern healthcare institutions, it becomes more essential to develop the operations as well as to exploit advanced methods to provide an ultimate satisfaction to each patient. Moreover, the development of the policies and the procedures are also beneficial for the organizations in terms of achieving competitive advantages among the various competitors within the market.
