Professional nurses role in the business of health care Affiliation: Why should nurses have a clear understanding of the financial aspects of healthcare?Health care is undergoing reformations be it in the technology they are using to handle the diseases, preventive care and chronic management of diseases. The reformations are expensive and hence finances are a key point. It is important for the nurses to acquaint themselves with these financial aspects of the healthcare reformation in order to seek more funds where necessary as well as be able to explain the costs to the patients if need be.

Awareness of these financial aspects will also enable plan more effectively for the future of the healthcare systems (Needleman, 2015). In your opinion, how does this financial knowledge impact the nursing care of patients in healthcare settings?Nurses having the financial information will mean that the patients will be able to be provided with the financial information directly. Nurses will be able to explain the cost of treatments to the patients before they chose the best treatment costs as well as enable them develop a payment plan for those in palliative care whose treatment costs are very expensive (Malloch & Porter-O’Grady, 2013).

Who, in your opinion, is responsible for keeping the staff informed of the economic impact of providing nursing care to clients? The hospital administrator is the one who receives all the information about the finances in the hospital from the finance department reports. The administrator is in charge of the staff and since he holds the report from the finance, he is in a better position to impart that knowledge to them which can then be transferred to the clients (Wolper, 2010). The administrator has the authority from the board to discipline any staff that does not follow the directives and the staff is aware of this and hence once they get the economic knowledge, they try all they can to provide the same to the clients without any altercations.
