Heat therapy has minimal side effects unlike other forms of therapies, thus it is a safer choice. The doctor recommended that short duration of heat application on my back, about 15 to 20 minutes. He recommended that I use a hot, damp towel or heating pad on my back whenever I feel pain.  I intend to follow the instruction because it works for me.
