It provides my possible action as the director of the agency. In answering the question, the paper will assess the ethical dilemma presented, the choices of actions present and the related ethical principles. As the director of the agency, I would seek to handle the case of Ruth professionally and in accordance with the set guidelines. Here it will be important to consider the ethical issues related to the case, what is set out by the code of ethics, Ruth’s rights and position in refusing the assigned work as well as her expected role as a nurse. The main ethical dilemma is that related to the rights of the patient and the role of the nurse towards the patient based on the set code of ethics and the moral and religious standing or beliefs of the nurse. There are a number of actions that I would take as a director of the agency in the case of Ruth’s refusal to take up the task and based on the reasons presented. The first action would be trying to discuss the issue with her in bid to convince her to take the job. My role would in this case be to remind her about her role as a nurse and her duty towards patients. Another initiative would be to try and to erase the idea that the patient’s sickness is in no way a punishment from God, but is rather a disease just like any other. This will be based on the code of ethics that calls for nurses to maintain dignity and integrity during their practice, and in promoting justice. ...
