I came to read Francis Bacon’s dictum that “reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man and writing a full man” (Morgan, p. 5) and I found it extremely true that “writing makes him perfect’. It’s from my experience too. Though my English was not quite good for writing while I was in Saudi Arabia, I gradually found it interesting and rather enthusiastic in writing English, especially after I went to the USA for studying. My major was Accounting which helped me get more awareness of the business world and through quite a good number of readings of journals and books related to business. My experience was that when I wrote and shared my views, I felt myself getting improved in knowledge, personal development, and many other behavioral aspects. Reading may give us knowledge, but is only ‘half’ if it cannot be shared well with others, and this justifies Bacon’s view that ‘writing makes a full man’.
It’s now my dream to become a published author of both journals and books. I find it more valuable than people coming to me in a meeting with copies of my writings and requesting autographs. Being an author is more proud and valuable than the fame it brings or happiness that a writer has when he sees his books in the bookstore window. It’s thus not only the matter of fame but a profession with extreme pride and social work with great ‘social-welfare’ attitudes
