Current Healthcare Industry Practice How to develop and maintain effective relationships between physicians and pharmaceutical companies have long been an issue of the principal public concern. Pharmaceutical companies are believed to produce heavy impacts on how health care services are provided. For a long time, visiting physicians and informing them about new products and medical devices had been a conventional practice within the healthcare industry, leading to numerous conflicts of interests which, in their turn, bore significant consequences on the quality of medical care. Future leaders must be (a) aware of the conflicts of interests, to which the discussed healthcare industry practices lead, and (b) promote collaboration and cooperation between physicians and pharmaceutical manufacturers, in order to encourage and sustain the atmosphere of progress and innovation in healthcare. The current health care delivery system in the country is summarized by emphasizing on the plight of the uninsured, particularly the broadening disparities in racial and ethnic access to health care. According to Danzon (2011), the American health care laws impose financial liability on physicians and hospitals that are found liable for medical malpractices.
It provides entitlement for individuals to receive certificates of continuous coverage from their health insurance plans even in transition between jobs. Title II is the Administrative Simplifications provision that dictates safeguards and ways sensitive health care information must be coded, released, and distributed.
Abuse in healthcare, on the other hand, involves unnecessarily charging for non-medical services (or products), which may sometimes be over or under priced and in total disregard of the established professional standards to achieve certain personal objectives.
