Eventually, the girls find themselves amid trouble and hysteric breakout of the fact of their witchcraft trial which culminate into a gruesome climax and put the girls into tremendous trouble culminating in the death sentence of John and other convicts who show the guts to tear the confession and embrace death reciting the Lord’s Prayer which they end before they could say the word “Amen”.

The film is an exact representation of the myriad myths and punitive measures that were undertaken for the practice of witchcraft. The film ‘The Crucible’ viewed from the historical perspective would take its audience back to the play by Arthur Miller on which it is based and to the basic historical events with which the book deals. The main purpose of the film is to project and evolve awareness among people far beyond the constraint of time frame, the actual reason behind the myths and superstitions is only for the fulfillment of some different desire altogether.

The scene in the film which depicts the climax is very much relevant to history and bears much resemblance to the book. The particular scene for example where Abigail try to convince the court that Reverend Hale’s wife is also possessed by some witch fails abruptly as the court is shown guided by religious inhibition and the judge declares that Reverend’s wife is too neat to be possessed by a witch. The actual history indicates the breakout of the riot in Salem and the film shows only a possibility of it but does not display it explicitly.

Again, the hanging scene of the film where John and the other accused are unable to say “Amen” before they die as before pronouncing it the scaffold breaks are an example of a loud dramatic climax incorporated in the film to enhance the dramatic quality of the silver screen and does not bear any specific resemblance with the history.
