Extract of sample "Analysis of Summer by Arcimboldo, Two Figures by the Sea by Homer, and Waterloo Bridge by Monet"

The artwork Summer (see appendix-1) by Giuseppe Arcimboldo consists of fruits and vegetables combined to form the figure of a man. Almost all the available vegetables and fruits are made used by the artist to complete this artwork. One can see that cucumber is used to denote/portray the nose of the person in the artwork. The dark background of the artwork provides uniqueness to the foreground, i.e. the images of fruits and vegetables which are combined to form the face of a man. Most of the vegetables and fruits that can be seen in the artwork are portrayed in red, grey, brown, or different textures of the foretold colors. I like this image because it is entirely different from traditional artwork. II. Two Figures by the Sea, Winslow Homer The artwork Two Figures by the Sea (see appendix-2) by Winslow Homer represents the village life in England, especially in the coastal areas of the North Sea.

In the artwork, one can see two women looking at the horizon with hope. The grayish-black rocks that can be seen in the sea are symbolic of the harshness of nature. The important colors made used by the artist are shades of black and pink. The darkness that can be seen in the background/ horizon stands for imminent danger or harsh weather. As the women are in informal dress, they may be waiting for their relatives who went to the sea for fishing purposes. I like this artwork because it is symbolic of human hope and the power to withstand critical conditions in life.

Moreover, harsh weather symbolizes the power of nature which is able to influence the human mind. III. Waterloo Bridge, Claude Monet In the artwork Waterloo Bridge (see appendix-3) by Claude Monet, it is difficult to identify the Waterloo Bridge because the artist gave less importance to the bridge. Some ships, boats, etc are visible but the background of the artwork is totally blurred. The artist gave due importance to the elements of nature, for instance, water, wind, sunlight, etc. One can easily identify that the artist gave importance to the blue color and its different shades.

Besides, other colors like grey, orange, yellow, and white are made used by the artist. The sunlight reflecting on the water symbolizes nature. The ships and boats that can be seen in the painting are symbolic of mechanization and human success. I like this artwork because it represents nature and human progress. Summing up, the three artworks made use in this work symbolizes the relationship between human beings and Mother Nature. The first image is symbolic of the relationship between human life and nature. The second image is symbolic of the importance of hope in human life. The third image is symbolic of the importance of nature and its influence on progress. In short, these three images represent the relationship between life and nature.
