Politics and Religion in US Role of politics in removal of religion from schools and other s in US: The traditional family system or more appropriately, the nuclear family system is the basis upon which the relationships between individuals are defined in our society. In a nuclear family, there are parents from both the genders. This is the quintessential image of a family as preached by almost all religions including Christianity and Islam. This speaks of the importance of the teachings of religion in our daily life.

Owing to its huge importance, religion should be made a necessary part of the curriculum that children are taught in schools and other institutions. An in-depth analysis of the matter suggests that the American politics has played a fundamental role in removing religion from all institutions. According to the “Freedom From Religion Foundation” (FFRF), the constitution US maintains is essentially a “secular document” which makes only “exclusionary” addresses to the religion (Tubbs, 2007, p. 1). FRFF is not wrong in its claim.

The establishment of US government was meant to rule the US. There was no intention of making it a means of religious establishment is US. However, US President Barack Obama disapproves of the concept of shelving the religion off the institutions. Obama said, “Applying [faith-based] values to policymaking must be done with principles that are accessible to all people, religious or not” (Tubbs, 2007, p. 1). US should not remove religion from schools in order to make the American society understand, respect, and apply moral values in matters of everyday life.

This will boost the nuclear family system in US, which would lay the basis of a healthy and progressive society. References: Tubbs, B. (2007). The Role of Religion in US Politics. Retrieved from http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/409311/the_role_of_religion_in_us_politics.html?cat=9.
