" Ecological Education" Introduction Education cannot be solely accomplished by means of reading, writing or teaching, but it encompass various other sources along, called the "ecological education". It is an education by means of summoning discussion sittings, symposiums, and community considerations; elevating environmental consciousness as well as responsiveness; guidance in announcements and communications; intercession; activating community beliefs and achievements; categorizing media movements, demonstrations, and community manifestations; creating significant printed matter and filing court cases.

All these approaches are to create awareness in the people to understand their rights and provoking intolerance towards injustice. These approaches are created to educate group of people and also exterminating their ecological and lawful ‘illiteracy,’. This enhances their self-confidence, providing them with positive outlook towards ecology, its protection and improvement (ALPHA, 2000). Ecological education enables individuals to comprehend a wider and composite conservation system, it also signify to stay in harmony.

Thus, ecological education creates an wakefulness not only amongst the educated population but also amongst the uneducated population. It assembles those individuals who are well informed and provide support with keenness and dedication. Communication is the chief motive of ecological association. Communication is done by using short and meaningful sentences. It is imperative that appropriate information and desired awareness must be generated through this means of education. It is evident that environment or ecology is a wide term that involves people, their immediate environment, their cultural environment and also the global impact.

It is a concern towards our biological as well as non-biological environment, it also involves a concern about the social environment. It involves protection of the resources. It teaches how to prevent our resources from wastage and their effective as well as intellectual utilization (ALPHA, 2000). Ecological education shares open dialogue and access to information. The main motive of this kind of education is to develop a concern about our environment. The success lies in it persuasion and creating a chain reaction, to involve mass and to spread the domain of concern to greater area and moreover it should be global phenomenon.

It is a social awakening towards unchecked population, use of plastics and various issues of environmental pollution. The kind of education persisted since 18th century when Jean-Jacques Rousseau spotlighted upon environment and a concern towards it. On first Earth Day, April 22, 1970, a national teach about environmental issues laid the foundation for environmental education. Later, in 1971, the National Association for Environmental Education (now known as the North American Association for Environmental Education) was formed to develop environmental literacy by providing means to those who promote ecological education programs (EETAP, 2002).

Environment issues cannot be confined to the class-rooms. It is a continuous process that children must learn and follow to have a concern about their environment. They must utilize resources in an clever manner to conserve our resources. The ecological education has a lasting holistic meaning that involves everyone. Parents inculcate a concern in the child towards environment care and exhaustion of resources. This creates a concern which is passed to others and thus the chain reaction begins.

An appropriate training program involves teachers as well as those who are keen as workers to create apprehension towards environment. References Ecological Education in Everyday Life, ALPHA 2000.
