The Beauty That Is ‘Joy’ One finds an ease in such utterance as ‘joy’. Feeling round and free of conflict in all its simplicity, ‘joy’ brings a joyful person in a state of pure glee, as if to live in a paradise and be drinking through a fountain of opulent hopes or where unfading colors are all aglow and youth never comes of age. Like a garden filled with lovely flowers, the sight of ‘joy’ is naturally pleasing with real fragrance that lingers along the path stridden by its blossom.

It does not take having to be in a place of literal wonders but it is that place in the heart that means to share unbounded happiness overflowing like a river or a rich honey to those who have been moved by it and tasted sincere goodness from someone who bears all the truth ‘joy’ could be. What puts an instant smile on a gleaming face? As a child, I knew exactly the measure of sadness there was in confinement, of time under a binding curfew so that every time mama said ‘you can go’ or ‘play all you want’ then joy is in being set free.

That was when a sudden spark came all over and a roll of giggles jolted beneath my skin at the thought of short-spanned liberty with playmates. Sometimes, I could not imagine at this age how completely elated I had become on receiving toy presents from my dad whereupon each instance he would witness a certain twinkle in my eye and a pink blush on my cheeks as a collective sign of utter delight. I am equivalently aware that joy is around after a hard day’s work especially on getting a sense of fulfillment with a well-accomplished task at school, at home, and during recreational activities with friends.

In a community with peers I meet up with very often for a variety of reasons, there exists joy in dynamism and not feeling lonely within a circle of special people who touch other people’s lives by means of sharing potentials time, moral support, and even material possessions. The way it feels to have experienced wealth by a significant number of true friends defines a level of joy that far outweighs the type of happiness felt towards sole physical riches. Where else could joy be? In innocent pleasure, one sees a cheerful look from a child holding out a fragile butterfly in all meekness and deep appreciation.

Besides joy in the love at first sight, there certainly is one in the fresh parental affections for the newly-born and yet another stage of implicit love, of patient love for a stubborn grown-up. At random, joy may be found hidden in the success at managing to handle difficult situations particularly as it serves interest beyond that of oneself, in receiving forgiveness, in lessening burdens of doubts and anxiety, and as well as in immeasurable wellness of allowing empathy instead of bearing ill-will against another person.
