A good mood is conducive to human development.

Networking

Good social relations are compulsory for human development in the contemporary age. Man is referred to as a social animal. This essentially means that a big part of our identity is derived from the social relations we cultivate. The society in which we live constitutes people from all professions. For an individual to grow, he/she needs to achieve more in less time. This is only possible when one knows the art of being in the right place at the right time. It does seem a bit odd, but it works! People use their links to get the work done in seconds that would otherwise take them days, months, or perhaps years to do. Networking connects people to others who can fulfill their needs.

Reflection

Reflection is a very useful exercise that is increasingly being made use of these days. People are encouraged to reflect upon their experiences on every level. For example, students are given assignments by their teachers in schools to reflect upon their experiences. By making it part of their education, educationalists are encouraging people to make reflection a necessary part of their life. “The process of reflection is an integral part of teaching practice” (une.edu.au, n.d.). Reflection is essentially an exercise in which an individual realizes his/her mistakes and realizes the best course of action to adopt if caught in a similar situation in life again. People who learn from their experiences do not commit the same mistakes in their life. As a result of this, their tendency to make mistakes reduces and they gain perfection.

Patience

Patience is one of the strengths a human being can have. To achieve success in life and develop as a human, an individual needs to remain composed through all obstacles that may hinder his/her way to success. It takes a lot of patience to achieve success.

Consistency

Consistency, like patience, is a big strength. An individual has to keep trying to achieve success. One may not feel the same at different times in life, and this affects one’s tendency to develop oneself. One needs to be consistent to develop oneself in life.

Human development

Thus human development requires these elements to enrich the life of an individual. According to Amartya Sen, the definition of human development is:

Human development as an approach, deals with what I consider the basic development idea: namely, increasing the richness of human life rather than the wealth of the economy in which human beings live, which is only a part of life itself. (UNDP, 2011).
