To begin with, Verizon wireless is one of the world’s largest communication companies and has been competing to be the best in the market. In striving to achieve this goal, Verizon wireless has tailored an Organizational culture that helps them adopt and maintain ethical employee behavior. A closer look into the code of conduct practiced by the organization, would tell us more about standards adopted by the organization in the employee behavioral aspect and its management. Verizon has set standards for the employees, which are a reflection of the core values adopted by the company like Integrity, Respect, Performance excellence and Accountability.

The organization requires the employees to use their sense of judgment and be accountable for their actions. By this the employees develop a sense of responsibility and are always driven by a motivation that they are a part of this family and every decision they take would have an impact on the business. “Ethical behavior does not simply happen; it is the product of clear and direct Communication of behavioral expectations modeled from the top and demonstrated by example” (“Your code of, ” 2010).

Verizon provides a healthy work environment with fair and unbiased outlook. Verizon requires its employees to treat their fellow employees with ethical behavior that necessarily includes respect, dignity, integrity, fairness and honesty. Verizon’s compliance with policies such as Equal Opportunity commitment and diversity entails the organization to provide equal opportunities to all the employees irrespective of their age, sex, religion, nationality, color and other protected categories. Adoption of such policies would motivate the employees to work better as their diligence would surely help them grow and it gives the employees a sense of ownership.

This sense of ownership helps them to make good decisions and this kind of policy would enhance the employee experience and develop a great cultural organization. Verizon has stood in the list of top 50 companies observing diversity; Verizon communications has secured the 22nd place in this list. (“ The diversityinc top,”) Verizon has strict defined laws for the work place behavior like observing policies relating to the consumption of alcohol, harassment of co-workers or women, work place safety, gambling and consumption of drugs.

Protection of personal information of the co-workers and the customers, like the social security numbers, passwords and other personal information is strictly observed in the organization. Verizon also ensures that its employees avoid conflicts of interest, which can be personal or potential. An example of this policy is the promotion of a personal interest like advancing the status of a friend or any person in relation, at the expense of the company’s interest. Strict policies about dual employment are followed at Verizon as a part of maintaining employee ethics as this may degrade the quality of the work of the employee at Verizon and also may have effects on the company’s employment breaching policy.

The organization has also made clear policies regarding the employee’s political conflicts of interest and also personal political interests, which encourages employee’s political awareness and interest. Other interests of the employees like the trading financial interests are also taken into considered. Verizon provides its employees with many benefit plans and programs, which are provided as compensation. Keeping accurate records, protecting company communication and information systems, securing facilities provided by the organization, maintaining the customer relations are very important for Verizon’s healthy organizational culture.

Clear policies about bribes, kickbacks and loans are considered very important by Verizon communications. With such well-laid policies and procedures, which also offer health benefits for the employees, Verizon has succeeded in maintaining employee ethical behavior in the work place and as well in the places where they represent the organization. “Employees are eligible to enroll in health and well-being bene?ts on their ?rst day at work.” (“Your work your,”) Works Cited Your code of conduct.
