Other columnists have been with Sun Sentinel for as short as 7 years (Nicole Brochu) and the longest at 30 years (Ken Kaye). Another talented columnist, Ken Kaye has been acknowledged and awarded, including the “Green Eyeshade Award, the National Press Foundation Berryman Award, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and “The Lowe-Down blog, which he began in 2008, has won writing awards from the Florida Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists” (Sun Sentinel: The Lowe Down 1). These columnists focus on diverse expertise and topics ranging from sports, editorial cartoons, lifestyle, entertainment, feature stories, and politics, to name a few. In the most current issue dated October 21, 2011, readers would be amazed at the wide array of topics classified into: breaking news, hot topics, weather center, day in pictures, more on top news, sports, entertainment news, health, consumer news, restaurants, opinion, weird news, travel, parenting, schools, and hot online, among a host of other topics.
