Intelligent Design is it Science?William Dembski’s view of intelligent design signifies that the objects and beings in the universe are created by someone, who is superior to all. The vast universe holds objects and phenomena, which haven’t been discovered by human beings. Yet, neither do human beings know about where their whereabouts, but it is the foremost duty of humans; to discover more about these objects (Dembski, 710). Dembski believes that intelligent design is a science, which directs toward the different signs of intelligence for example, like Mount Rushmore.

According to him signs of intelligence meant indescribable events, due to their strange, unknown and extraordinary nature. To support his view, he has used example of the law of physics, with relevance to radio signals. Dembski states that radio signals take diverse form as a contingent form, extensive and multifaceted. To further supports the theory of Specified complexity, he states that intelligence leaves behind a mark or a trail, which makes up a design community, hence it describes the nature of specified complexity.

An event is considered to be specified complexity if the element in it, can’t be explained by probability, which is the amount of expectation of occurrence of the unpredictable event. Meaning, an individual never expects an event to occur, because of its unusual and unware nature and the individual’s inability to explain that event is intelligence (Dembski, 712).Dembski believes that intelligent design should be taught in school as natural and scientific phenomena, but teachers face problem of fate and beliefs while teaching the intelligent design theory.

The core of the problem is, the explanation of intelligent design theory to students, how intelligent design is science and not a religion. He further states that intelligent design should be taught in biology classes, to high school students. Keeping in view that the method of conversion does not account for specified structure, which is compound in nature, in biology. Although educators should act passively while teaching intelligent theory as one tends to comply to his own perceptions with the design theory (Dembski, 715).Michael J. Behe’s thesis on intelligent design was based on research on it and it consisted of two parts:1.

What is intelligence design? 2. What intelligence design isn’t? Behe believed that the design of intelligence is not a religious notion, further more he clearly states that intelligent design is a science and not a religion. According to Behe’s point of view, intelligent design is a science because it has physical existence and it leaves marks behind for humans to trace. Thus, it can be observed through the help of biology. To support the argument of physical evidence of intelligent design, he has also given the example of Mount Rushmore, which is a designed monument.

Behe gives another example of Francis Crick, who was a biologist and co-discoverer of DNA. Crick stated that the biologists need to remind themselves that DNA changes over time and is not designed. The third claim that Behe makes is that, humans have no explanation for the foundation of life which does not include intelligence. Darwinists believe otherwise; the appearance of design in life as the result of random mutation and natural selection, explains their theory. Behe’s last claim describes, if there is no explanation of a design then an individual should believe that a superior power is involved in the making of the intelligent design (Behe, 717-718).

Behe states that intelligent design should not be taught in classrooms, but it is the general public’s right to know about intelligent design, and their choice to accept or reject the theory. According to Ian Sanders, the claims that Behe used to support his theory aren’t genuine because the theorist has failed to provide any sufficient evidence to support his four claims. Bruce Albert, another expert on intelligence design states that the public should know about intelligent design, and they should be made aware of all the facts and figures.

Albert further said that in science, the knowledge of intelligent design theory theorist is limited, because intelligent design is a vast subject and many aspects of it are unfolded everyday (Behe, 720-721).Work CitedTop of FormDembski, William A.
