Either/ or- Soren Kierkegaard Question Kierkegaard’s father’s teachings are based on imagination, as opposed to real life teachings. To some extent, his teachings are relevant as they depict vivid pictures in one’s mind. However, they are somewhat exaggerated and do not depict reality. In this aspect, this teaching technique resembles virtual reality. Moreover, both the two provide little or too much information compared to real life. However, difference between this teaching technique and virtual reality is the fact that the latter also depict physical presence in imagined worlds.

In addition, Virtual reality is computer simulated. Question 2Based on Kierkegaard’s life, it can be deduced that he tends to identify with both William and the friend who did not want to choose. His identity with William is seen in his decision to propose to Regine. Kierkegaard loves her and fancies the idea of the two of them getting married. This contends with William’s aesthetic view of life. Kierkegaard also identifies with his friend when he calls off his engagement with Regine. His friend believes that all choices have consequences and that one’s choice defines his or her identity.

He lives with the consequences of losing Regine at the expense of his love for her.Question 3Existentialism is a philosophical theory, which suggests that in order to grasp human existence, there sets of categories governed by the authenticity norm further required. The second excerpt relates to Sartre’s theory of existential choice in that in both there is a choice to be or not to be made in life. They are based on the philosophical statement ‘existence precedes essence’. Work citedRosenstand Nina (2008) The Moral of the Story: An Introduction to Ethics McGraw- Hill
