Introduction

Development of a person’s philosophy is a remarkably rewarding experience in anyone’s life. Personal philosophy helps people to understand who they really are. My personal philosophy guides me to make the right choices in life. It also encourages me to make sound judgments about different scenarios. My philosophy is that of metaphysics and it encompasses open-mindedness as well as flexibility. Metaphysics is a belief that there is existence of things beyond what we see. There are four schools of thought in metaphysics; realism, pragmatism, idealism and existentialism (Hay 15). I am an existentialist, and I highly regard people’s choices and decisions.
I listen to other people’s views and I am flexible when making decisions. I value my interests greatly. With regard to reality, I believe that it is subjective, and determined by an individual. Reality is the existence of things in a certain state. This does not involve imaginations, instead real things are things which are there at the moment, or have been there in the past. They can be observable or not observable. Moreover, reality involves things that can be easily comprehended and those that are difficult to understand (Hay 41). Individuals must be free to make their own decisions and choices in life. As an individual, I do not live by predetermined choices of other people. I make my own decisions depending on my conscious, subconscious and unconscious mind.

Philosophical methods and their role in integrating learning and faith
In Greek semantics, the traditional goal most associated with philosophy as a discipline is not stated directly, which is not to say that truth is absent in the definition of philosophy, but rather that truth is present in the defining aspect of wisdom. Wisdom relates to truth as knowledge relates to understanding, and the dynamics of this relationship is illustrated in the Greek term…
Greek Philosophical Thought
Unlike virtually every other religion of the time, the Hebrew God “had no image, no myth, and no cult practices . . . “ and He was omnipotent, with authority reaching to all people and not just the Jews (Frend 13). 2. During the time of the Babylonian exile, when they defeated the Jews in Jerusalem in 587 B.C., the Jews did not lose faith in their God and strongly believed they would be…
What is Philosophy? Philosophical Issues.
Many times it has been the case that those who study and practice philosophy tend to focus too much on the subject of the logos and telos, while overlooking the value of ethos. Ethical issues are always constant, and it is a pressing matter in life than trying to figure the existence of reality. …
Deforestation and the effects on the environment with philosophical theoretical issues
Current paper focuses on the expansion of deforestation as a critical environmental problem in countries internationally. Emphasis is given on the potential explanation of deforestation using appropriate philosophical approaches. As already noted, deforestation affects all aspects of life; its evaluation could be therefore initiated using philosophy, which has highly contributed in the explanation…
Philosophical Thoughts on the Nature of Dogs
The fundamental question of an issue like this rests on the fact that it is impossible to communicate with these animals – you cannot ask a dog what it thinks or how it would like to be treated, and so we form (often incorrect and anthropomorphic) assumptions of their wants and desires, as exemplified by widespread and ridiculous practices such as leaving a television on for a bet for…
The Matrix and philosophical issues
At the heart of The Matrix is that of skepticism, of concerns regarding the very nature of reality, and of whether we know anything to be real at all. Just a few minutes after the movie opens, Neo says, “you ever have that feeling where you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming?” (A. Wachowski and L. Wachowski) like a foretelling of things to come. The Matrix plays out an old…
Political Thoughts of Marx and Rousseau
This is a great shame, for "conceptions of the nature and reason of art intimately similar man's conceptions of himself and of his fate, and they talk to us in ways far more forceful than abstract theory can do. Critics, when annoying to trace the reason of contemporary political evils, frequently say "It's Rousseau's fault." In a sense they are correct, but it is more generally right to say that…
