Water Pollution in Orlando FloridaIt is undeniable that Orlando is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Actually, the city is nicknamed “The City Beautiful.” However, this title may soon cease to make meaning if the current water pollution is not addressed appropriately and promptly. Orlando has failed to control water pollution to the extent that the federal government had to intervene.Orlando has many water catchment areas but there have been recent concerns over the level of effluents that are finding their way in to the lakes and rivers.

For instance, Lake Lawne was put on alert after a residential sanitary system blocked leading to sewage overflow that ended up into the lake. Although there were intervention measures, the lake was already polluted. Indeed a lake alert was issued and public warned not to use the water until the issue was resolved (City of Orlando Public Works web). Lake Okeechobee has been on the public limelight for uncontrolled pollution. Effluents from large farms and ranches find its way into the lake thereby causing water pollution.

These are just some of the examples. However, the water pollution through improper effluent management seems to be escalating. The primary causes of water pollution stems from failure of effluent management by waste management departments and most importantly failure of industries and farming sector to manage their waste. This is a case of lack of human values and environmental ethics. For instance, ranches and dairy firms should observe environmental ethics and take precautionary measures to ensure that their effluents do not end up into the water catchment areas.

They should all respect human values and observe environmental ethics even when it means cutting down their profits to do so. This way Orlando will be an environmental conscious city.
