INTRODUCTION BODY: One successful feather in the cap of Tony Blair is the overthrow of the Saddam Hussein Iraqi military dictatorship. Tony blair was right in helping the United States go to war with Iraq. In fact, Tony Blair's decision to send British Troops into Iraq to topple, capture and try Saddam Hussein for his government's crimes against Kuwait, and murders of some Muslim sects that were against his style of government. Tony Blair, Mr. Bush of the United States and other other nations were right in attacking Iraq. Today, the arrogant Saddam Hussein is finally gone. Now, democracy is slowly but surely unfolding in the once military rule of an army general. Further, Tony Blair's government at this time is very successful because the strong relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom has kept the world in a peaceful state. James Naughtie aptly described Tony Blair as the United States watchdog. Tony Blair had gained the trust and confidence of the Bill Clinton as well the the younger President Bush'es administration. He is called the American watchdog, Alsatian, for Tony Blair warns the American leaders of possible dangers that will be knocking in the next few months or years on the doors of many free nations. Tony Blair does not think twice as he immediately orders his British forces to attack Saddam Hussein during the desert storm era where Kuwait was freed from the clutches of Saddam Hussein (Wheatcroft 2004). In fact, Tony Blair was instrumental in alerting the Clinton administration about the debacle on the United States that would arise if the United States did not take any forcible action in the Kosovo arena. Tony Blair also persuaded President Bush to aid in the war where the Serbs were involved. In addition, Tony Blair's speech to the Economic Club in Chicago, United States in 1999 had emphasised the importance for the United States' use of preemptie strikes if the first step of using diplomatic means to end the Taliban war in Afghanistan and the Balkans failed. In response, President Bush saw Tony Blair as a positive force and a real friend in time of need. President Bush even saw Tony Blair as the prophets who forecasted that doom brougth about by the September 11 airplane attacks in New York and the Pentagon (Thomas 2005). Further, Tony Blair's success during the elections in 1997 until 2007 was because his labour party's battle cry was "The socialist tradition upholds ethical values such as equality, social justice, fellowship, and community. Its adherents typically believe in reciprocal altruism as a condition for the highest possible moral development of all. The proper goal of political action is a moral community in which all citizens attain freedom through cooperation"(Bevir, and O'Brien 2001, 535). Tony Blair's Labour party's success was because his party believed that the socialist tradition that upholds ethical values such as social justice, equality, community and fellowship is what makes the British life more enjoyable. Tony Blair's party believes that political action is a moral community where all the United Kingdom citizens will achieve their true freedom with a secret ingredient. That secret ingredient is cooperation among all sectors of the British society. Tony Blair is a staunch follower of Tawney's philosophy. This philosophy states that equality, liberty and fellowship among the people will only prosper in a community where all the citizens are clothed, fed and sheltered. In the United Kingdom, Tony Blair was successful with his New Deal program. This program states that all young people between the ages of 18 to 24 must work, undertake full time schooling or training, engage in voluntary work or even work in an environmental task force (Bevir, and O'Brien 2001, 535). And, Tony Blair spent government money for the health of the people. Tony Blair insisted that government money should flow out for the benefit of the United Kingdom citizens. In fact, Britain had the second biggest over -all increase in government spending when compared with other advanced countries between 1997 to 2005 alone. Tony Blair was instrumental in this government action because he insisted that spending government money to cure and maintain the citizens' health was to raise the British healthcare spending to the health care spending to the average European Union level. In addition, Tony Blair was instrumental in keeping world peace. Tony Blair ordered the British soldiers to check the Slobodan Milosevic armies in Kosovo. Tony Blair also ordered the British troops to help end the Indonesian occupation of East Timor. Tony Blair was also ordered overthrow of the psychopathic religious right in Afghanistan. But the biggest part Tony Blair played was annihilation of the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein. This proves that Tony Blair will commit his troops to battle without thinking twice in the name of liberty (Cohen 2006). However, Tony Blair also had time to host the Commonwealth Sports 2002 events where different heads of states attended with the help of the Queen (Mcintyre 2002). Plus, Tony Blair infused money for educating the youth. These weapons of mass destruction thought to be chemical in nature and that Saddam planned to use these deadly weapons againts its neighbors like Israel. This argument is definitely wrong. For, the members of the United Nations that included the United States and the United Kingdom had asked permission from Saddam Hussein to allow the United Nations inspectors to inspect all possible sites where these weapons of mass destructions could have been hidden. There were even suspicions that these weapons of mass destructions were hidden in hospitals to avoid being hit by the night attacks done by the United States, United Kingddom and its allies. However, Saddam Hussein would not allow the United Nations inspectors to freely (The key word is freely) go where ever they suspected that the weapons of mass destruction could have been hidden. However, Saddam Hussein and his loya followers refused to freely (the key word is again freely) go where they wanted to go in order to come up with a report that Iraq indeed does not have weapons of mass destruction. The refusal of Saddam Hussein to freely inspect all possible hiding places of the weapons of mass destruction irked and caused doubts in the minds of the United Nations inspectors. In fact, one United Nations inspector theorised that Iraq indeed is hiding weapons of mass destruction. CONCLUSION: Tony Blair's government between 1997 and 2007 was a success.
