The essay shows that effectively signifies is a situation in which the members of any given cabinet play a game of trust and confidence with regards to the House of Assembly. How this ultimately works is that if these cabinet positions lose the confidence and/or trust f the House of Assembly, the precedent has been set which would call for their ultimate dismissal and the formation of a new government. In this way, a very high level of accountability is held with relation to the accountability that cabinet members and the executive have with relation to the House of Assembly. Although this concept is not new to the Canadian system and checks and balances within the Canadian system.
This paper makes a conclusion that as a function of better understanding, the rubric behind how responsible government works within the Canadian system, the final part of this brief essay response will consider the 5 determinants that must be in place in order for the system to work properly and according to how it was originally set up. The first of these acknowledge that the title to executive power is ultimately derived from the Crown. The second explains that the Crown will only appoint Ministers who have the confidence of the House. Thirdly, it assumes that the Crown will only act on the advice of the ministers. Fourthly, it defines that these ministers will act as a joint team of ministry. Finally, it indicates that if when the ministry loses the confidence of the House it must resign and/or seek new elections to be held.
