Apparently, the transportation of hazardous materials for commercial purposes is subject to DOT Hazardous Material Regulations that seek to reduce road accidents and safeguard the society from exposure to harmful materials. DOT Hazardous Material Regulations require licensed and trained personnel to segregate and pack hazardous materials in labeled and approved containers for transportation (Indiana University, 2015).

The Department of Transport has invested in improving the safety in transporting hazardous materials. However, many people have been violating these standards leading to illegal shipping of hazardous materials. The violations have exposed the transporters and the society to increased accidents and catastrophes. As such, the research paper will test the hypothesis that the increased violations in transporting of hazardous materials for commercial purposes leads to more accidents and greater catastrophes in the modern world.
