Communication is literally the act of transferring information from one place to another, with the use of a medium in which the communicated information is clearly understood by both the sender and the receiver. It is viewed as a two-way process that involves two participants, who must actually create ideas, information, news and feelings to be shared for their mutual understanding. Communication is categorized into; verbal communication such as, face-to-face, radio, telephone or other media. Non-verbal communication; dress, gestures or even body language, and written communication that entails the use of e-mails, books, letters, magazines among other written sources of information. It is worth noting that how well this information can be treated and received is a measure of how good our communication skills are. Every individual ought to have effective communication skills to be able to send information to an audience in the most efficient way and in a manner that foresters correct interpretation. This ensures that partners are able to have the intended information and barriers avoided. For mutual understanding between the sender and the receiver, communication process has to be effective. The sender ensures that he/she chooses an appropriate channel to convey the intended message (Guerrero, et al.2011). This information has to be encoded in a form that can easily be passed through the communication channel chosen for it. Once the message has been received, the receiver has to decode it effectively. After successful decoding has been done, the receiver now changes role with the sender; he/she chooses the right channel, encodes the message and sends it back as feedback. The receiver on the other end acts according to sent information received. Communication, which is done through that process, is always effective and can be very vital in building relationship between both the parties involved. Open communication isvital to for any successful relationship, but lack of communication can be detrimental to a relationship. By simply not having an effective communication between two, partners, it can be very harmful to them. Poor communication between partners causes long lasting effects of mistrust, ill-feelings as well as cause of separation. The root cause of all problems in a relationship lies on mistakes of communication. To build a strong and healthy relationship, the partners must be able to create ideas, the information they have their feelings and share them for an appropriate and mutual understanding. The partners should at all time embrace healthy communication patterns and skills such as; always being positive, engaging in active listening and limiting anger at all cost (Sherts, 2009). These bring about longevity and quality relationship where both enjoy; it is, therefore, advisable for partners to resolve effective communication skills as they are able to reduce the time spent in resolving problems that can be used effectively in terms of development and enhancing relationships. In our daily lives, some actions that we take deliberately or unconsciously results into conflicts. For this reason, conflicts do exist in all relationship. Worst of all is when there is a communication breakdown that makes conflicts goes unresolved, this very risky and it has contributed to half of the failed relationships. These bring suspicion and mistrust and as a result, an individual may resort to fill in the “information gap” with conjecture and rumor from a friend that would only double the tragedy. One partner might think the other is hiding something. A bad communication pattern only escalates the conflict and can bring more harm to our relationships. When things are not communicated properly, more problems are experienced. Relationship between workers and employer deteriorate, they feel frustrated and are not able to work effectively (Guerrero, et al.2011). This makes them spend much of their time solving problems, time that would rather be used to improve the productivity hence realizing the benefits. Employees do not have a say in their efforts towards the development of their firm; they do not utilize their potentials effectively. this is because there is no clear communication within their workplace, the environment is not friendly and everyone lives or works in suspicion. They are not aware of what tomorrow holds for them, but instead depend on mistrusted information that is likely to bring more related problems. At the long run, it is the organization the runs at a loss. Relationships have greater links with health matters, and it is clear that a couple or other partners in love or with connected relations generally are happy and have fewer health problems. This can further be transformed whenever the partners are able to communicate effectively. There are other health issues among women that always lead to the communication deterioration such as mood swing due to pregnancy; most of the time when they begin to experience biological changes in their lives and, as a result bring communication down. Men are encouraged to understand the feminine being and their health related issues to avoid communication breakdown. This should not be the time for blame game, and most people have termed women to be nagging to death. It is important for men to speak unarguably-speaking, in fact, that do not necessarily need to be argued over. They should also base their talks on more of appreciative aspects of the other partners to avoid misinterpretation. This is key simply because it will help them develop their thoughts on how to shift from blame to wonder, and eventually ask themselves what can be done to do away with the related communication problems. In a communication, listening is probably the most part than the art of talking. It is very important for everyone to develop his/her listening skills. To be a good listener, we should try by all means to remove all distractions, or in other word, come out of distractions. Whether it is a television, pet or children, we should avoid them at all cost during the communication process. It is possible to easy to fall into habits of only hearing what you want to hear, misinterpreting your partner’s meaning or turn out. Those who don’t pay attention are prone to distortion of the intended message. This comes with confusion or misunderstanding which eventually results into conflicts. For a better relationship, partners should learn to sit down and listen to one another, instead of getting attracted to other distracters or even talking and voicing all your opinions at once. It is important to listen and make eye contact or if possible ask questions for clarification to avoid misunderstanding. Give out your own opinions; ask questions which are not upsetting, challenging or frustrating about the others’ feeling and remember not make conclusions before reaching amicable agreement. Lack of communication in a relationship is very harmful; it can lead to negativity in all interactions. Partners with poor communication patterns are always stressed, and contributes to reduced relationship satisfaction and eventual breakup. Unsuccessful communication makes couples feel incompatible with one another; this brings forth more related problems such as nagging; at this point it is possible that a partner will develop a negative attitude towards what one says, and they are not going to pay attention(Berger, Roloff & Roskos-Ewoldsen,2010). This is because they are not ready to listen to what the other speaks; they view it as less important but not considering that relationships are able to move far when we bring onto board our entire attention to the minor things that really seem not to make a big difference in our lives. Consequently in organization, lack of proper communication can cost many resources that cannot be accounted for easily. Clear communication makes every member of an organization responsible and accountable for their actions. When job description is done or communicated in time, passed through the use of effective channel, therefore, employees are aware of what is expected of them and work properly. Communication in all spheres of life is very important; a successful communication can constructively be used to help partners avoid getting into petty quarrels, slinging matches that can lead to long lasting challenges in life. Whenever we need support or help from our partners, we should be free to ask and communicate our thought effectively. This works well at workplace or even at home between the couple. We need to be appreciative when we receive help, as it is human nature that people needs to be motivated to work best and utilize their potentials more effectively. Better communication, therefore, enhances relationship more so when it is done appropriately in at the correct time, and with the use of efficient methods (Reis & Sprecher, 2009). We understand that conflicts are part of our relationships. And whenever a problem arises that would affect our understanding of one another’s’ opinion, it is advisable to have a dialogue when both the partners are alone without any distractions, talk of the problem, be free to apologize and move on to something else to avoid a bunch of unresolved problems that might cause long lasting challenges. This brings respect for both the partners. When partners stop communicating well, they stop relating well, and at this times it is accompanied with stress or misinterpretation of others opinion. At the long run, it brings disrespect to one another. Respect is something that is important in every aspect of life, and lack of it is equivalent to lack of communication that shows the when a relationship starts to strangle and eventually comes to an end. It is a give and take thing; therefore to be able to have respect from your partner you must prove to them that you are respected worthy. Always one should be able to attach meanings to what our partners have to speak to as have to tell us, give them time to talk, listen to them even if you have a contrary opinion to theirs. This shows respect that can foster good relationship hence peaceful co-existence. Effective communication ensures that things are done in the correct way and at the right time, this in turn between partners, or workers and their employers. In an organization, a successful communication ensures that project or tasks distributed are done right and accurately. Without communication managers cannot implement their management process, hence the goals of the organization cannot be effectively achieved. It should be noted that, it is only through information exchange that manager can become aware of what the public, client, customers and other business stakeholders need from them. It is through effective communication that the manager can be able to build rapport that will in turn motive other junior employees to work together as a team to improve an organization’s productivity levels. Relevant communications enlightens relationships between partners thereby reducing incidence of interpersonal conflicts and rumor mongering and creates an open relationship in the interest of developing creativity and self- control among members of the organization as well as the relationship.
