The worst part was that the cancer began to grow, eventually spreading to the lungs, which made the situation even more painful for him. Tube feeding was the worst part and it started to torture him more therefore he opted for an accelerated death since in a few days’ time he developed massive bleeding. To this response it was not easy for her to decide even though she wanted to say no but it was not a choice, given her father was in severe killing pain and was very depressed about his illness.

So ultimately, she gave in. If I put myself in Wolf’s situation, despite being against the assisted suicide, I would have made the same choice. Because seeing someone in such pain cringe the heart and especially when it is someone you are related to, the pain just takes away your soul. Looking at the pros and cons of assisted suicide, the major con obviously is accelerated death which is really hard to accept because you lose someone in no time even though s/he could have lived and died a natural death; sometimes, however, one is not left with any other option in life.

At times people have to go against their will and let go of their loved ones, no matter how heart wrenching it might be. There is no qualm on the fact that nobody has the right to take another person's life or his own life. The whys and wherefores of the said squabble may be holy, politically aware, and therapeutic but what is imperative is the safeguarding of life except for when unavoidable situations requisite otherwise. Protection and safeguard of life is the most important and obligatory decree; majorly, because we cannot parallel the natural life of man with the life of an animal.

If euthanasia is being approved for the assistance of animals then men have a duty to not go through the same treatment for they are more treasured than wildlife. Following euthanasia is debauched for Catholics or other holy principles. Conserving the life of a bedridden patient is a solution to God's instruction that we must love one another regardless. On the other hand, we should also think about a situation in which there is no other medication for a long-suffering patient whose ailment has grown to the extent of being torturous.

On occasion, helping a patient who agonizes excruciatingly of an ailment is somewhat that his heart requests (Lopez, 2009). As in the case of Wolf’s father, it was so painful for him to even eat, drink or walk. Even lying down on bed was agonizing to the extent that bearing it was beyond his stamina to cope up with the pain. I think that it was the best available option for her father at the moment, particularly since he himself wished for an accelerated death since he felt like a burden despite the fact that his daughter made every effort to make him feel not a burden for her.

Had been I in Wolf’s place, I know it would have been a difficult choice for me too since fatherhood is a relation that is of a great importance to a child. And losing someone that close, I believe, is one of the biggest fear of everyone in their lives, but at times life leaves us with no option and we have to gulp down this harsh reality of death. I agree to a very high degree with the decision that Wolf took. I think it was a very daring and brave decision on her part as it needed great courage and patience to let go of someone so dear at heart and losing them forever.
