I am presenting this self-assessment report to write down about what I understand as the basic objectives of my work as ….. at the Garrison Command Headquarters, and the extent to which I could do justice to my job during the period…. It is my sincere belief that this introspection exercise would enable me to perform even better in times to come. Basic objectives of my work are: i.) To perform administrative & personnel-related work with a high degree of accuracy and timely completion; ii.) To follow established work processes and guidance; and iii.) To identify, evaluate and implement best practices which support readiness and mission execution, and to enhance the well-being of the organization. Self-assessment: Objective 1: Providing administrative & personnel-related support to the Garrison Command Headquarters involves preparation of reports, maintenance of records and correspondence on one hand, and miscellaneous incidental duties, on the other. During the reporting period, I have ensured timely and accurate action in maintaining the time sheets of the 12 garrison employees and contract employees for each pay period, Self-assessment 2 with an accuracy of over 98%. These time sheets (66 no.) form the basis for tracking the record of attendance and payments to the personnel and hence I believe that a high degree of care and awareness of need for accuracy is important. In addition, I have done similar work for other departments of the Garrison Command Headquarters also. I am happy to confirm that I have succeeded in maintaining practically error free records in the reporting period. I also maintain the administrative records of Garrison Headquarters concerning mandatory staff training, promotion, leave records and other personnel issues, keeping the Garrison and Deputy Garrison Commander informed of personnel status. In the reporting period, I have processed 17 personnel actions (promotion, reassignment etc.) for the Garrison Command Headquarters, ensuring that employees are in the correct pay grade and band. Apart from this, I handled the personnel matters concerning the civilian staff here and in Rock Island and maintained liaison with the Garrison DOL. My actions ensured quick and timely resolution of the relevant issues with over 90% rate of reliability. As a front office employee, I receive and process all phone calls with a degree of responsibility and courtesy that befits our organization. I regularly receive and reply to email correspondence, using Outlook facility. I ensure mail pick up and distribution as appropriate. Last but not the least, I receive all visitors to our office and ensure that they get service to a high level of satisfaction. VIP visitors are ensured special care and attention to ensure that their work is completed with efficiency and courtesy. In short, I Self-assessment 3 always remember that I am the first contact of the Garrison Command Headquarters and that it is necessary that I leave a good first impression. I am happy to report that I have not received any negative remarks in discharging my duties here so far. My other administrative work involves routine functions like correspondence, arranging office supplies like equipment, publications and forms, making travel arrangements and preparation and submission of travel vouchers etc. I perform these mundane works with care and dedication so as to contribute to the overall efficiency of functioning of our organization. Thus in administrative and personnel matters, I am working with diligence and am able to achieve the required level of efficiency and timely completion, avoiding any complaints. Objective 2: Following established work processes and guidance is important since our organization is a critical government body within the defense department, spending public money and is answerable to rigorous audit and security checks. It also enhances the level of performance and minimizes errors in fulfilling duties. I realize the importance of this part of my job since it involves outside agencies and their access to our organization. There is an element of zero-tolerance towards security issues and as a defense establishment employee, I take my responsibilities very seriously. Self-assessment 4 I have been working as an alternative key custodian for 29 different areas within the garrison. I am enabling DOD contractors to apply online for Common Access Card (CAC) for 229 of their employees, using the Contractor Verification System (CVS) effectively. This involves background and record verification systematically. Twice in a year, I re-verify a contractors need for a CAC for IAP World Services and all sub-contractors, using AKO sponsorship tool. I am happy to report that I have gained good experience of using these tools and am able to use them effectively. Although, technological tools and established procedures help me to perform this task and I ensure that they do not override my human element in double checking in any area of doubt. Objective 3: Identify, evaluate and implement best practices which support readiness and mission execution and enhance the well-being of the organization. Our organization has important resources which must be managed efficiently. Facilities such as Eisenhower Suite, Vorder Brügge Auditorium, the Rose Garden and VIP Parking in front of Building #1 are to be scheduled for daily activities, which I do routinely such that the resources are best used. I keep track of the Joel Auditorium usage and inform higher authorities as when necessary. I help in scheduling the meetings and calendar events for headquarter leadership and brief visitors as appropriate. Concluding remarks: I am currently taking up the foundation course as required. I am always extending a helping hand to other departments within the garrison whenever Self-assessment 5 needed. In terms of front office functions, maintaining personnel records and follow up actions, utilizing technological tools and common facilities etc., I believe that I have done justice to my work and achieved a high degree of accuracy, competence and diligence.
