They sent the girl to school normally, but in the following years she started to have increasing difficulties in keeping up with the subject matters. Furthermore, she could no longer have any friends and she complained that she was being bullied, so she refused to go to school at all. As a result, the parents were called for discussions several times, and they were explained that their daughter either talked out loud about things irrelevant to school activities, or whispered and the teachers could not understand her.

The family was reluctant in accepting these things and especially the father dismissed any chance of his daughter having learning difficulties or mental problems. In the following two sessions the student became more confident and entrusted the psychologist with a big secret, which was to be told to no one else: in the past ten months she had had a secret friend, whom only she could see and speak to. This secret friend would sometimes come to school with her and would tell her who to play with. The secret friend also taught her not to trust the other students, because they were jealous for not having an invisible friend. In conclusion, the psychologist carried out her duties very well.

She paid enough attention in order to notice that the student was having problems, she talked to the teachers in order to find out possible relevant information and, having completed that, she repeatedly interviewed the student herself in order to have a complete picture of the situation.
