Relationship among Depression, Fear, and Suicide There exists a strong link between depression, fear, and suicide. A person in depression is likely to commit suicide because of the fear of some unwanted expected situations. Let us take an example of a person diagnosed with cancer. A person having cancer is more likely to attempt suicide because of different psychological factors, such as, depression and fear. A person having cancer starts feeling depressed and unhappy. The charm of life and its attractiveness ends for the patient of cancer.

It is a fact that when a person is diagnosed with the disease of cancer, the feelings of dejection and victimization adversely affect the mental condition of the person. Some of the cancer patients report suicide ideation and ultimately attempt suicide. Cancer is a disease, which makes a person think about death even when the person does not know the actual time of death. Cancer also affects daily life activities of a person because it draws the attention of a person away from work. This disease not only makes a person depressed and hopeless but also shatters professional and personal dreams of a person.

Depression causes hopelessness which is a very critical risk factor leading a person towards suicide. A person can deal with the problem of depression by consulting psychologists and undergoing some form of treatment but hopelessness is something, which is very difficult to deal with until or unless the hopeless person has special willpower. Therefore, we can say that a person diagnosed with cancer is more likely to attempt suicide because of some critical risk factors, such as, depression, hopelessness, and fear of death.
