Motivation Theories al Affiliation: Motivation is the power that instigates channels and maintains goal-driven actions. Different theories have been developed to explain the concept of motivation. One of these theories I mostly agree with include Instinct theory of motivation, which implies that people tend to act in certain ways because they are automatically programmed to act so as suggested by Miner (1994). For instance in the world of animals when it comes to seasonal migration, they are not told to do so but it is within their mind that they have to do so.

Another motivation theory I agree with is the drive theory of motivation which implies that individuals are motivated to take definite actions to decrease the internal anxiety triggered by unmet needs. An example of this is the act of taking water in order to quench thirst. There are some motivation theories I least agree with, for instance the Incentive theory of motivation which implies that people are motivated to act in certain ways so as to get external reward according to Miner (1994). This might not be true because sometimes we engage in certain activities to avoid being idle or even to help others.

Another motivation theory I least agree with is the Arousal theory of motivation which argues that individuals engage in certain actions to either reduce or raise their arousal levels, for instance a person watching exciting movies to get aroused. However some actions are highly triggered by the mental thoughts of the individual. Therefore it is important to concentrate on what we want so as to accommodate the situation.References:Miner,J.B. (1994). Role Motivation Theories. London: Routledge.
