Research Proposal Research paper topic: ‘Implementation of substance intervention and prevention programs in schools’ The research paper isgoing to include a very important issue related to substance abuse, that is, implementation of substance intervention and prevention programs in schools. I will use questionnaires and structured interviews for carrying out the research. The whole process will take around one month which includes visiting people, distributing and collecting questionnaires, and conducting interviews.

Introduction Substance abuse has become such big social problem that there is a dire need for the design and implementation of school-based intervention and prevention programs against the use of alcohol (McNamara & Colorado State University, 2008), tobacco (Elders, 1997), and other drugs (McCabe, Boyd & Young, 2007) among school students. These programs must include teacher training and involvement from school authorities as well as a proper check on the implementation. Research QuestionsThe research will focus on questions like: What kinds of programs are required for substance abuse intervention?

How would such programs trigger motivation among students to refrain from substance use? How important is teacher training? How much involvement from principal is required? What would be the measures of maintenance of these programs? Methodology I plan to visit different school authorities to locate answers to my research questions. I plan to conduct structured personal interviews with the principals and teachers of some schools. I will also distribute questionnaires among the students to know what motivates them to indulge in substance use.

I shall collect data and statistics and shall organize them in charts and tables. The whole research will take around one month.Works CitedElders, M.J. (1997).
