A skilled interviewer and an observer can contribute to the wellbeing of an individual; thus, effectively contributing to social change, especially when he or she engages in psychotherapy and psychological assessment as the central practice (Irwin & Bushnell, 2005). Additionally, psychologists engage in research, forensic testimony, consultation, teaching, and administration and program development; therefore, it is only through skilled interviews and observations that they can achieve the desired and effective result of any of the required engagement (Irwin & Bushnell, 2005).

Moreover, a skilled interviewer and an observer stand a chance of providing expertise in psychological testing, as well as diagnosing mental illness; unless proper interviews and observations are conducted, projections of the report given by the scholar-practitioner may turn out to be ineffective towards the desired social change. (Cormier et al, 2008) In fact, a skilled observer and interviewer should be acquainted with the general understandings of the four primary theoretical orientations, which include behavior therapy or cognitive behavior, humanistic, psychodynamic, and family or system therapy.

The application of these understandings will enhance the scholar-practitioner’s ability to conduct interviews and undertake observations effectively. Finally, a skilled observer and an interviewer should have the research knowledge in relation to medical intervention effects and policies. Such knowledge will effectively enable him or her to provide effective report or outcome concerning the individual and the society of interest (Cormier et al, 2008). The skilled observer and interviewer should always be keen in providing information regarding the clinical practice guidelines, evaluating the medical care quality, and thereafter, fostering intervention measures that would elevate or improve the quality of health care.

These can only be achieved through skilled observation and interviewing. Class #2 Cognitive Psychology Assignment # 2: Culture and Cognition The study of culture and cognition has remained a virtuoso affair in our daily life affairs (Franks, 2011). This study has succeeded in building strong interpretive studies that offer considerable insight; however, it has failed in building on one another. As a matter of fact, the cultural theory is highly sophisticated but has not become fully operational (Saito, 2000).

However, before the cultural study can become a cumulative enterprise, it is scholars’ responsibilities to clarify the cognitive presupposition behind each forwarded theory; especially to what culture does and what individuals should do with culture, as well as the fundamental units and concepts of cultural analysis. Cultural cognition is the hypothesized norm of an individual to form a perception to a risk and relate facts therein with some self-defining values (Franks, 2011). Cultural cognitive can be examined from different understandings (Saito, 2000), or a phenomenon that vary with any given social discipline that includes anthropology, psychology, sociology, political science, and communication (Franks, 2011).

Therefore, through the cultural cognitive, an individual is capable of understanding the values that shape each social science discipline. For instance, through cultural cognition, one can clearly understand the values that shape political conflict within a given country or a region of the nation. Additionally, through the same
