Is Abstinence really the key (or something along that line)

Comprehensive sex education approaches to explain to teens that it is always better to delay sex unless they are emotionally and physically ready for it. Guidance about how they can protect themselves from harmful infections and unwanted pregnancy is also given to students. This approach aims at creating awareness about how one can fight the urge for having sex and wait until the time they believe they are ready for it.
According to different surveys, it has been found that abstinence-only sex has been declared ineffective in controlling the spread of aids and sexually transmitted diseases in the developed world, According to me the main goal of providing sex education to the students is to create awareness about how they can protect themselves in a world where fatal diseases like HIV aids and STDs are spreading like plague, However as this type of education only offers limited information about sex and gives no details about contraceptives and their effectiveness, it has a low positive influence on the youth who still indulge in unprotected sexual activities.
Some people say this type of education is mainly based on religious values and beliefs, rather than keeping the society and current worldly problems in mind. It is the right of every child to have knowledge about this topic, rather than just telling them what you believe is right. By doing so, we not only keep them in darkness, but they end up making huge mistakes and fail to face its consequences.
As in this type of sex education program, students are brainwashed to have sex only after marriage. But people who do not believe in marriages cannot practice it in their life style. Similarly this concept cannot be applied on same sex marriages as they are considered illegal in most parts of the world, therefore putting a full stop to the whole discussion by only promoting the idea of sex after marriage is not a solution to problems like spread of aids and teen pregnancies.
