Personality Disorders In the article “Approaches, perspectives on ADHD” the Robert T. London is explaining most of the mental disorders that occur in the mental disease called “attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD”. For example one of the most common and important factor or disorder is forgetfulness which also creates a lot of frustration and anger in the patient. Moreover, other main personality disorders include poor concentration, distractibility, lateness, procrastination, forgetfulness, frustration, anger, and decreased self-esteem. Furthermore the reason why patient gradually loses self esteem is frustration and anger that is created because of the habit of forgetfulness and procrastination. Besides this, the author says that this complicated disorder is a Psychiatric/Psychological problem (London, “Approaches, perspectives on ADHD”) which leads to frustration and disparity in the life of the patient. Similarly, the patient gets angry on his/her everyday mistakes and routine that is deadly for his/her business, education etc because of distractibility and lateness. Consequently, this mental and personality disorder which creates a lot of anxiety, frustration and anger in one’s life and must be treated in a proper psychological way and not by the family physicians. In the Article “'Borderline' label needs a new name” the author Robert T. London has attempted to explain and familiarize with the disease that is not given any name for decades due to which its treatment was also ignored. This is because of the fact that enough research was not done on this disease and its name “Borderline” was just used to differentiate its patients from other psychologically normal people (“‘Borderline’ label needs a new name”, 2004, 30). Moreover, the most prominent personality disorders of this disease are emotional deregulation, anger, impulsivity, hostility, dissociation and self-mutilating behavior etc. Additionally these emotional deregulations and anger can be extremely dangerous and socially awkward (London, “'Borderline' label needs a new name”). Hence in this way, this is a major psychological disease which can has many threats including the threat to life. In the article “Treating avoidant personality disorder” the author Robert T. London has talked about a major psychological disease which is called as “Avoidant Personality Disorder” and has also discussed its various methods of treatments. In this way, its prominent features that contribute to the personality disorder are decreased self esteem, wrong and inappropriate, often in a negative way, analysis and judgment of their own personality and the fear or a sense of losing or a sense of loser and low confidence while going on a public occasion (London, “Treating avoidant personality disorder”). In this disease, the patient becomes low confidence and has decreased self esteem and self appreciation. Moreover, the patient wants to ignore others and hide it from others because he/she thinks that other would make fun of him or will make wrong or negative judgment on his/her self. In the article “Helping OCPD patients break free” the author Robert T. London is trying to explain and elaborate the major effects, mental disorders and methods of treatment for the psychological disease called as “OCPD i.e. Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder” which is extremely annoying and frustrating for the patient who is suffering from it. Moreover, the author has described it very beautifully that like other psychological disease, its treatment should also be done through Psychiatric methods and not by the Psychological methods (London, “Helping OCPD patients break free”). The most prominent features and symptoms of this disease are lack of attention, looking and analyzing each and everything critically, and that the patient wants to have an absolute control of his surroundings. Furthermore, the patient of this disease cannot understand and analyze more than one perspective of a single thing. Besides this, the patient gets frustrated and angry over little things of life because he/she needs everything to be done perfectly and on time. In the article “Treating the dependent personality” the author Robert T. London has described a very important psychological disease or disorder called as “ Dependent Personality Disorder” in which a person is attached and dependent on others just like a child to his mother. In this disease a patient has a lot of anxiety and frustration, lack of decision making power, feelings of loneliness, and abandonment which eventually leads to anxiety. In this way, just like many other psychological diseases, this psychological disorder was not recognized and Freud was the one, who explained it clearly and, later on, its methods of therapies and treatments were discovered (London, “Treating the dependent personality”) In the article “Is Decluttering a Form of Therapy” the author Robert T. London has briefly recognized its reader with a form of treatment which is used for the patients of Psychological diseases such as schizophrenia, stimulant abuse, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and anorexia nervosa etc and the reason why all these diseases are included for this method is that all of these involve hoarding and chaos (London, “Is Decluttering a Form of Therapy”). However, this is not a “Proper” therapy but it is a psychological and psychiatric treatment, in which patients are asked questions, and is given medicines. Furthermore, the medical professionals deal with their problems of depression, shyness, embarrassment etc In the articles discussed above, the writer is explaining the various perspectives of those psychological diseases. For example he was using biological approach while saying describing the various diseases which can be cured by the method of “Decluttering” in the article “Is decluttering a Form of Therapy?” (London “Is Decluttering a Form of Therapy”). Similarly the author is also using many other approaches and perspectives such as Family approach, socio-cultural approach, and Psychodynamic approach etc. However, the most prominent approach that the author has used is that of “Learning” approach and a perspective through which the reader gets to learn a lot of things even though he/she has not studied Psychology. For example, the way author has described the past and approaches towards the diseases in the articles have a lot for learning for both common masses and also for the professionals. Also, the author has clearly explained that how a major psychological disease and personality disorder called as “BPD i.e. Borderline Personality Disorder” was considered as “Nothing more than a negative and judgmental label for a serious mental disease” (London, “Borderline Personality Disorder”). Hence it can be said that the author has used many perspectives and approaches for describing the symptoms, causes, effects, methods of treatments for the mental diseases and personality disorders, but all of them were leaning towards a single approach which was a “Learning” approach for the people. Finally the author of the various articles dealing many psychological diseases discussed above has also described and explained the methods of treatment for those diseases. However, the approach towards the treatments was a single approach and the author was not giving multiple and totally different methods of treatments for the diseases. Hence this single approach was that the mental diseases and psychological or personality disorders must be cured by the psychological and psychiatric methods and not by the surgical, biological or by the family Psychologists because there resources, faculty and facilities available in the hospitals which are enough for a patient. Furthermore, this approach of the author was reasonable and acceptable because, first of all, he himself is a psychiatrist and that most of the patients are treated just by the local psychologists even though they need proper medicine and psychiatric way of treatments. Besides this, other methods can also be used with it. For example, in case of some extreme and prolonged mental disease which would be caused by some serious brain injury or accident and is because of some physically damaged reason then it could be cured with a medical surgery and operation Work Cited London, Robert T.
