Effective CommunicationImportance of Effective communicationCommunication is considered to be a fundamental component with regard to our personal as well as professional life. Perhaps, an effectual communication process is regarded as one of the key contributing factors towards the success of the organizations. Basically, effectual communication is referred to an art and a process where the sender puts across the message using different modes of communication and the receivers accept the message and comprehends the same meaning, in the identical denotation that the sender intends to communicate.

In addition to this, the method of effective communication entails a two way interaction which is free from errors and engages least degree of manipulation by the communication barriers. In this era of information age and with the advancements made in the field of information technology, the need of effectual communication has escalated tremendously for multiple reasons (Roseenbaum, 2005). An effective form of communication is measured to be the essence of the present hour. Moreover, effective communication helps to create and strengthen relationship amid the individuals as well as groups.

Well-timed communication not only helps to motivate individuals but also results in quick decision-making. However it needs to be mentioned in this regard that the role of communication is just restricted to motivation but is also deemed to be imperative for process planning and coordination. Hence, one must know what the barriers of communication are and continuously make endeavors so as to improve his /her communication skills. While communicating, it is always preferable to use simple and adoring words and avoid the usage of cruel or bitter words.

It has been noticed in this context that the frequent use of jargons by the business individuals prevent the listeners from deciphering the definite meaning of the speaker’s words. Hence, making use of jargons should be minimized along with adhering to the usage of simple and explicable words (Roseenbaum, 2005). Relation between Listening and PatienceListening is supposed to be an essential skill in relation to the process of communication. Individuals need to keep patience while indulging in the process of listening and they also require concentrating on the speaker’s words.

It is required for listeners to display attention and attempts for the reason of comprehending as well as decoding the exact meaning of the message conveyed by the speaker. The listener should always try to avoid any kind of distraction along with focusing on the message that is intended to be expressed by the speaker (Career Transition Ministry, 2009). It has always been advocated that possessing the virtue of patience by an individual is a sign of superior character. Individuals, who are known to be aggressive, often demonstrate the characteristic of being impatient which makes it tough to strike an effective chord of communication with them.

It is advisable for the listeners in this regard to try and perceive things from the viewpoint of the speaker. Listeners need to engage adequate time and listen patiently till the speaker finishes communicating the desired message. The listeners also require ensuring the prevention of any sort of interruption in between the conversation. In addition to this, the listener should also exercise efforts to realize the expression of the speaker while listening. Finally a good listening habit is considered to be an asset for any individual as it helps to overcome the communication barriers.

Further, it also needs to be noted that patience does not just mean complete silence instead the listener requires reacting to the speaker either by smiling or by nodding (SIL International, 2009).
