It is significant to note that anyone making a text message on his or her cell phone tends to concentrate more on creating a message than concentration on how to control the vehicle (Hale, 2001). According to the recent research, harmful effects do happens on the distracted driver who in turn crashes the vehicle due to the influence of texting messages. The impact is so huge particularly on the reaction time since the accident exposes the driver to an external reaction.

This effect is triggered by the surge that arises in the frequency level of reaction, which in turn improvises and triggers physiological response human body. The composition of a text messages and driver’s reaction time is influenced by the stress that arises during dual task situation as seen from the result of the cardiovascular and respiratory measurement in regards to their function and reaction time. This correlates both physiological and cognitive stress moment (Corbett & Park, 2004).

During the events time, the respiratory system is affected by the stress availed and hence altering its main working condition. It is however, of more concern that while a driver needs to write a text massage, he or she takes time to understand each word he is writing and this takes all of his concentration (Corbett & Park, 2004). It is vital to note that examination of driving performance showed that drivers in the dual-task state or condition reacted gradually or slowly to the onset of vehicle braking lights and revealed impairment in lateral and forward regulation compared with a condition of driving only.

Further, drivers who composed text messages while driving were more prone to accidents than drivers who did not text while driving (Noyola, 2012). In sum, text messaging has a horrendous influence on simulator driving performance since the driver tends to concentrate much on creating the text than looking at the road. In addition, the practice of composing a text message while driving has been is risky since it is one of the causes of motor vehicle accidents.
