POVERTY Introduction Poverty has been defined as a social in which an individual or a communitylacks the essential resources to support minimum living standards established by a society. The economic status of countries and societies forms a fundamental element utilised in defining poverty levels. Poverty statistics are commonly presented in regard to financial resources available to people. Different factors contributing towards the occurrence of poverty among communities are always considered in seeking to define the causes of poverty.

The distribution of wealth and economic status of countries have been identified as social factors which affect the poverty conditions of people residing within those countries (Shah, 2013). This website provides summarised information regarding poverty status across the world.Research issuesWithin the context of understanding the various attributes of poverty different issues have been researched, all aiming at providing essential information on poverty. The prevalence of poverty has been measured through qualitative studies analysing the income levels of people within different countries.

Many poverty stricken individuals still reside within the poorer countries in the world (Chen & Ravallion, 2010). This information is collected based on government sources utilised during undertaking of national census. The national census information is commonly collected and presented in various demographical settings which can easily determine the poverty levels. These include attributes like employment and education levels of the individuals. Unemployment results in individuals having limited financial resources, while education has been identified as a factor related to livelihoods of people.

The validity of the results remains extremely high as governments undertake these researches in order to enhance their policies. The millennium development goals presented a global challenge in setting eradication of poverty as an objective within the MDG. Many of the poor countries enhance research in seeking to eradicate poverty, through understanding the prevalence of poverty. In studying these elements, other aspects of poverty also become clear to policy makers. Government sources provide essential information regarding the levels of poverty and the sources of poverty among the different countries.

In some regions where development remains limited, estimations remains the only available information which can be utilised in establishing prevalence of poverty among the populations. ConclusionSocial issues facing individuals commonly present surmountable challenges to the societies in establishing the causes and effectively mitigating the adverse effects. Poverty is one of the fundamental social challenge facing a significant percentage of the global population. Researches have been effectively undertaken seeking to establish the prevalence of poverty among the population.

Understanding these attributes of poverty remains essential in implementing policies seeking to eliminate poverty from the society (Ravallion, 2008).
