Another prominent area of concern was anxiety, as the magazine devoted numerous covers to this issue over the years. To a large degree the trends that emerged explored abnormal modes of psychology or healing.

One recognizes the nature of Time as existing by selling magazines and that the most sellable ideas are those that are new or offbeat. It seems to a great extent their focus on abnormalities and alternative therapies can be contributed to these intentions. Additionally the magazines regularly covered issues about optimism or faith and how these thought processes contributed to human well-being. To an extent the magazines coverage of psychology can be seen as largely concerned with self-help mechanisms.

A great amount of covers were devoted to anxiety and phobias in a seeming effort to aid individuals with these disorders. While few would argue that serious psychiatric conditions are less important than such cognitive-behavioral conditions, the magazine only had one issue about bi-polar disorder and none about schizophrenia. Only a few covers were devoted to anti-depressants and attention deficit disorder one would have expected the magazine to cover these trends with greater attention. Indeed, while traditional health medicine was regularly covered, there was little emphasis on psycho-pharmaceuticals.

This research has no explanation for this dearth in coverage, except that perhaps such serious conditions are viewed as untreatable or as restricted to a minority of the public and thus not be good for magazine sales.
