Brain Differences on Gender Introduction The issue on brain differences between male and female has been debated for a long time. In the past, people were made to believe that the style of bringing up a kid was the main cause of the different way a male and female react and use their brains (Brizendine, 2009). This assumption has made scientists to research more on human brain to identify if the assumption is justified or the male brain is structured differently from a female’s brain. There are various results from the scientists that this claim and assumption is not the main cause of different abilities associated with male brain or that of a female. The scientists wanted to know the reason behind men ability to read maps better than women did and why women are better at remembering events and the aggression associated with men, which is not similar to women. Women are better in socialization unlike men. These issues made it mandatory for scientists to deny the allegations that all these differences were due to differences in the raising up of a boy and a girl (Brizendine, 2009). This essay provides the difference in structure and other scientific differences between a male and female brain that have been discovered over the years. The research involved examining 400 men above 13 years and more than 500 women between the ages of 8 to 22 years to note the differences in their brain that make men to be more geared to perception and coordinated action than women are (Comer & Gould, 2010). The women were more sociable than men were. The results for this research proved that there are major differences in the structure of human brain based on gender. Women’s brain neutrons are more connected the right and left hemisphere of their brain that ensure socialization and better memory. The men’s brains have neutral communication within the hemisphere from frontal to real portions of the organ (Comer & Gould, 2010). These differences are the main causes of the different abilities associated with the different sexes. The right and left hemisphere that the women brain neutrons are connected to facilitate emotional ability and ability to infer interactions. The cortex in male’s brain on the other hand is central thus is in the cerebellum that is the main facilitator of perception and action. The different structures have been the main cause of different brain disorders associated with a majority of men and women and this difference will help better treatment in neurological disorders (Comer & Gould, 2010). This research has faced some critics since other neurologists argue that the main difference in the brain structure of different gender is because a male’s brain is larger than that of a woman. The critics argue that the structure of the male bigger brain has to be structured differently to the smaller woman’s brain due to the energy requirements of the male’s brain. They claim that male’s brain require more energy to ensure that the brain does not send wrong messages to the body or it does not decrease the communication times that are necessary for better functioning of the human body (Comer & Gould, 2010). These accusation based on the size of the male brain was also carried out by the same university thus making it easy for the critics to criticize their recent findings on the different neutron connections. It makes it hard for us to know the main causes of the different brain structure in connection with gender thus making it emanate to consider other researches to ensure that there are differences in male and female brains. Differences caused by hormones Different neurologists agree on the differences of the brain between male and female but they do not agree on the causes of the differences. Brizendine is one of the neurologists that argue that the main cause of male and female different brain is due to the composition of the hormones that control the brain (Brizendine, 2009). She claims that it is clear to note the differences of boys and girls at very early ages where the boy does not look at the mother and loves exploring the house and other things on his own. This is different with girls, as they love to look at their mothers for approval before doing anything (Brizendine, 2009). She argues these differences in the early age continue in puberty where boys like to be independent and hate socializing which is different with girls in similar age who tend to socialize more and gossip. The boys tend to conflict with authorities due to the testosterone that is more in their brain which create ego and a sense not to socialize. The girls on the other hand have more estrogen in their brain making it easier for them to relate with people. Brizendine has used several other animals to prove this claim where the hippopotamus has reacted in a similar way as humans (Brizendine, 2009). Conclusion In conclusion, it is clear to note that there are major differences of the brain in regards to gender but the researches on human brains have conflicting results that make it hard to note if the researches can be trusted. There is no hard evidence to support the differences currently but in time, the neurologists will give better judgments since the above researches are major strides towards better evidences on human brain differences on sex. The difference in the size of the male and female brain will have to research further to ensure if this accusation is not a stereotyping accusation that promotes gender inequality or it is a reality. Some neurologists argue that the essence of the male brain does not imply that the male gender is more intelligent than the female gender. Some argue that the size and functioning of the brain only affect the structure and the things that the gender is better in tackling but not on the level of intelligence. The various brain researches should ensure that they are carried out on true faith since failure to do so will only increase stereotyping on the intelligence of any gender. The neurologists should ensure that they are able to give better evidence and supporting documents and examples on their future researches because failure to do so will give room for critics that tend to criticize any new invention with any flaws.
