Research Methods: How technology Affects Learning Methods This section will deal with the methods used toarrive at results. In essence, research methodology gives helps to determine and use the appropriate research techniques for testing the research hypothesis. Methodology will be important in the research because it guides the study through sampling techniques, data collection methods, data analysis methods, and presentation of results. Since this research will adopt the quantitative technique, it will incorporate research design, sampling, instrumentation, data analysis, and presentation.

Research design/ Data collectionSince the research is a survey, questionnaires will be important in collecting data. Surveys require primary data because they seek to find new answers or new solutions to a problem or phenomenon. In this respect, the study will involve collection of responses from questionnaires and observations. About 600 students will participate by filling in the questionnaires. Besides the use of questionnaires and observation as data collection method, the study will also review literature for helpful data that may help in the analysis.

Sampling procedureThe research will use simple random sampling technique during the data collection process. Since the population of students is huge, a sample of 600 students will be used through random sampling technique. Any student who uses technology will have an equal opportunity of inclusion in the sample. A sampling frame, which is a theoretical list of specific aspects of the respondents, may be used as a guide. Unlike other sampling procedures, a simple random sample will be the most suitable in the sense that all the students will have an equal chance of participation hence eliminating any element of bias.

In this regard, the study will make use of random sample selected by the computer.Data AnalysisWhen it comes to data manipulation, it is worth noting that all the data will be entered in a computer and analyzed by SPSS, which is computer software for analyzing data, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The statistical analyses will seek to test the significance levels of both null and alternative hypotheses. The statistical test will be set at the alpha level, which will be at 5%. The expected results from the analysis will show whether technology affects students’ learning and the extent at which technology affects students’ learning.

ANOVA comes in handy when comparing a number of groups and it will be useful in the study since the data collected will be grouped. When it comes to the use of Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS), it is worth noting that the analysis of data will yield accurate results since the software can analyze virtually any data.Data Interpretation and representationAfter thorough analysis of data for the research, the processed data will be represented in tables, graphs, and pie charts so that they can be palatable to non-statisticians.

In addition, the representation of data will enable the interpretation of the results so that appropriate recommendations can be drawn from the results. The expected results are that technology has had both positive and adverse impacts on the learning of students. While some students use technology to enhance their learning experience, others opt to cheat using technology.
