Collateral information on Abraham Lincoln Collateral information on Abraham Lincoln According to collateral sources, Abraham Lincoln suffered from melancholy, which would be described as depression by health professions today (Shenk, 2006). However, these collateral sources do not describe the reason for this depression. He suffered various moods of depressions after his some major traumatic events that happened in his life, though it is not clear whether these episodes meet the criteria for diagnosing depression.

The sources indicated that Lincoln was very trusting and this melancholy used to strike when he felt betrayed or unsupported by individuals he had faith in. other collateral sources indicate that he took some blue mass pills to make an improvement on his mood. The collateral sources had a commonality in the reports they made. They all indicate that Lincoln was suffering from melancholy otherwise known as depression in this generation. However, some of them question how an individual suffering from such a condition got elected twice.

They indicate that his depression helped him in the political career more than it hurt him by drawing people close to him due to sympathy. Moreover, the collateral sources have no psychological issues that could exaggerate the condition of this previous American president. The reason is that there are multiple sources reporting this condition. Despite all this, there are no police reports on this condition since he was a reputable American president. The police did not see the need of being involved since he was not a threat.

There were also no personality testing or intelligence reports testing reports available on this condition.ReferencesShenk, J. W. (2006). Lincolns melancholy . Boston: Houghton Mifflin.
