Wilson Introduction “Hurt people” is an intriguing piece of writing by Sandra Wilson containing a series of counseling for people who may be physically or emotionally hurt. Covered in a green page to illustrate the domino contained in it, the coloration serves as a symbolic image depicting the books content on how hurt is being passed from one person to the other and how such hurt can be healed. The book entails theories by Wilson which focus on being hurt and the manner in which the hurt is passed on from one generation to the other. In addition, Wilson has gone further to discus how people should seek refuge in Jesus Chris if they want to be freed from their pain and gain the strength to forget the past hurt so as prevent this from being passed to other people who in most cases are innocent and are in no way associated with what they have experienced in the past. Theory Critique The book begins by getting the message straight to the reader that the individuals who are hurting at the present time were also hurt by other people from the past. This can be looked at as a defense mechanism for them to hurt people to given degree. The argument can also be seen as being true in the real life situation; occasionally, there comes a time when a person will get hurt and there after suffer form the same. This will involve a battle against the person’s emotions that has caused the pain and after which cause pain to other people either unconsciously or consciously. By using the family system and employing a cognitive behavioral approach, Wilson comes up with explanations now that children lack both the reasoning capabilities and ability, they are not in a position to think on their own.
