The word of God has dramatically changed the Thessalonian's life. This directly relates to modern-day life in the sense that it is important to continue to thank God for his word even after thousands of years.

Chapter four in 1 Thessalonians goes on to further explain living to please God. This is very important and the apostle Paul urges the Thessalonians to stand strong in their faith. Paul urges the Thessalonians to continue to do more in more in the name of God’s son Jesus. Doing so is pleasing to God. Chapter four also brings up sexual morality. This was a trouble for the Thessalonians as it is trouble for the modern day. Sexual morality has become to be something that is tolerated by society but almost forgotten that it is not tolerated by God. God wants his people to respect their bodies and treat them as holy. If these same values could be implemented in the modern day world there would be fewer sexual acts before marriage and also less prostitution.

Loving each other is another way that 1 Thessalonians encourages everyone to live to please God. Loving each other is very important as loving each other as God had intended would allow for a better pure way of life. This pertains to the modern world in ways that loving each other would reduce crime, lying, deceit, divorce, and violence to almost none.

Chapter five goes on to explain waiting for the coming of God's son Jesus. It is said that Jesus will come without warning like a thief in the night. Those who are obedient to him shall receive salvation. The modern-day may tend to forget that this has been written by God. Those who are pleasing to God and live life as a follower of Jesus can seek this salvation. It is important to remember that God says that we are all people of the day. Becoming the people of the day helps to keep away wrongdoings and drunkenness. God wants his people to be awake in the day and sleep at night. Those sleeping during the day are getting drunk at night and not living out God’s will. Modern-day struggles with this in many different ways. Many bars, clubs, and casinos are open 24 hours and this keeps many awake at night when many should be asleep. Becoming awake and aware of all these things leads to drunkenness which leads to many other poor decisions. Remembering what God has written through Paul to the Thessalonians would change the way many live for the better.

1 Thessalonians is summed up by final instructions. The final instructions were written to encourage the Thessalonians to continue to work hard and respect those who work hard. This is important for the modern day as respect is such an issue that many faces.

Jealousy and anger prevent many from respecting one another. Final instructions also encouraged the Thessalonians to be joyful. Being joyful and praying to God is important to help lift one another’s spirits. In a modern world where depression is such a huge problem, the modern day needs to remember that the Lord wants us to be joyful and happy. Read More
