Assignment Question One According to Boff the concept of communality involves a mean of sharing meals and drinks. The concept aims at increasing the attitude of acceptance and developing the spirituality among religious groups. The concept aims at working on similarity in developing morality among certain groups. Similarity if worked upon would be effective in realizing the essence of spiritual acceptability. The world develops spaces within which individuals are required to exist. In this sense morality is what defines the spiritual positioning of individuals. Working on the ties between a given religions enables spiritual strength in this essence sharing basic meal and drinks with people from the same faith strengthen the relationship and work in strengthen beliefs. The concept of communality is all about sharing with those who are less privileged as a means of showcasing the humanitarian aspects. In a wider spectrum the concept of communality is a means of ensuring world peace by reducing the aspects of conflict (Boff 233-65). In situations where exist a culture of intolerance the concept of communality. In this case conflicts arise due to either lack of tolerance or the inequitable in terms of resources. Those deprived basic resources result in conflict as a means of expressing their dissatisfaction According to Boff (197-99) the element of communality is to allow those privileged to share with others as a principle of hospitality. The concept would work a long way to ensure the world is peaceful by eliminating causes of conflicts. The society need to work in the best interest of the human race and create a culture of sharing. Question Two The charter of compassion (2008) derives its model based on tolerance. In this compassion is meant to deal with differences that exist within the world. By dealing with religious, political and ideological differences the world would have dealt with the demerits cased by conflicts. The charter outlines how humans coexist within their natural spaces. The bond between humans could be achieved if the charter of compassion is fully realized. The basis of the principle of compassion is laid on spiritual, ethical and religious components. The principle outline the needed for equity, and respect for all human races. According to the charter the world should gear towards creating a culture of similarities by utilizing the necessary mechanism. The charter differs from the concept of communality in that it addresses the responsibility of humans in a bid to minimize conflict. In this case the element of compassion should guide a person while interacting with others. Through this principle, pain and suffering should be eliminated. The major concern of an individual is how to maintain his level of morality by showing levels of compassion. In this case compassion is on an individual level while the concept of communality works based in group setting. The charter indicates how individuals deny other the right to humanity and does so in the name of religion. The principle of compassion outlines the need to respect rights and highlights the importance of morality as part of religious practice. The misinterpretation of religious teaching is what contributes to human suffering and the culture of intolerance. Question Three ‘Which Way Home’ outlines the need to focus on the humanitarian aspects of children risking their lives to seek greener pasture in the other side of the boundary. According to Boff (2011) the essence of humanity is to work towards hospitality. In this case the children fall in the category of less fortunate within the society. Their effort to seek for a better life ends up locked a crisis with government. The need to develop a culture of morality is what should drive government’s immigration policy. The children in the documentary are driven by the need to better their lives. Their government and society fails to address their plights forcing them to push themselves to extreme ends. The children aim at crossing from the lower end of the social class and advance themselves (Cammisa, 2011). The predicament that faces them through their journey indicates the negative side of humanity. A number of children are detained on their way to USA. The public policies in Mexico outline the lack of compassion among public servants. The worlds within which the immigrants exist are reason towards their struggles. The aim is to escape the harsh conditions they have been subjected to by their government and society. The neglected children in the documentary, question the very existence of humanity among government officials. The nature of hospitality driven by Boff lacks between governments and the children. The social classes created indicate the nature of inequality which is contrary to the principle of compassion where humanity should develop on the concept of care and ability to assist (Cammisa, 2011). Question Four SAFE act indicates the need to incrimination of illegal immigrants (American Immigration council, 2014). This means those illegal immigrants should be jailed regardless of their age or economic status. This is contrary to the Temporary protection Status where the adults are handed temporary permits to enable them work and study in the country (Federation for American Immigration Reform, 2007). Focusing on the children’s status there is need to focus on their plights. Existing laws should be amended and consider economic, political and social factors before classifying an individual as illegal immigrants. The focus should not be on the social impact but on means of assisting the children. The focus of the government would be the humanitarian crisis faced by the migrating children. The government should focus on consideration migrating children as refugees rather than a humanitarian crisis. The essence of denying the migrating children the refugee rights ignores the concept of humanity and is driven by the ignorance. The government should work on mechanism to absorb children through as refugees as a short-term solutions. The next step should be working on mechanism that will minimize the need for the children to migrate from their countries. The government should work based on the goodwill principle that highlight the need for compassion among policy makers. The available resources should be channeled towards developing mechanisms that will hence the existence of the children in the native countries. The Boff concept of communality highlights the need those fortunate in society to assist those less fortunate. This should be the case while dealing with the children migrating to USA.
