Holy Ghost Religion The Holy Ghost Religion refers to the people who profess the Christian faith and believe in the power of God. They alsofollowthe strict doctrines of Jesus Christ and view him as their savior and Messiah. Observers of the religion expect that miraculous works and wonders follow these people and as such there would be a set of expectation. Thus, when I watched the documentary, I expected some works of wonder and miracles to happen or take place at any stage. My expectation comes from the intuition that the Holy Ghost proceeds from God and good things will occur.

The holy spirit of God is to give hope for the people and spread the faith between them, as they always expect positive gifts from God. The documentary “Hell House,” by Ghost Ratliff represents a typical ghost movie where space, church or a patronage is set aside to frighten people. “There is a large two story and of dark wood, with a steeply pitched roof, it appeared abandoned,” (Lienau 8). In principle, it detailed the setting of the documentary and how frightening the actions that would be done there were likely to be.

The documentary shows a voice believed to be of a spirit detailing and interpreting the testimony of a woman. The voice analyses the character and testimony of the woman to the surprise of the believers. In brief, the story is about the Pentecostal Church that elaborates that punishments and disasters happen to people because of their sins and mistakes. For example, the people living with HIV/AIDs or rape victims are supposed to have sinned and therefore their difficulties are caused by their sins.

Subsequently, the preacher then handles a snake and uses it as an example to elaborate the power of God over Satan or devil. When I look up about what does the snake represent in the Holy Bible I found that it represents the devil. So, in the event of the snake that would bite a person handling it would be used as an example to show the strength of Satan. I was surprised with that kind of comparison because it is obvious that God rule or control supreme and nothing or nobody can be compared to God.

When I did my research, I realizedthat the church supposed to represent a place of holiness, righteousness and goodness. Hence, using this actions and stories such as the snake handling to show the power of God is inaccurate and misleading. I was therefore surprised when the believers were amused by acts of snake handling, which is considered as an unclean.However, the process of worship should alwaystake place in a holy and righteous manner. As I mentioned before that snake represents deception and uncleanliness,so it should never be used in a place of the worship for any reason.

In brief, I noticed that the use of the snake was rampant in the church, because the preacher used it on many occasions to make arguments and point points across, which made me doubt the honesty of that sermon. Furthermore, I think that using of snake to test God’s faith is wrong in all aspects and fairness. The teaching of the Bible or any holy book should be based on the holiness and richness of god. Also, using the snake does not give a clear picture of the Holy God that believers should worship.

This shows very clearly that the test of the power of God is misleading and inaccurate.I strongly believe that God is holy and should be respected and there should be no attempt to compare his power to the devil or anyone else.
