Practical Application of Ethics Question The notion of respect and dignity takes a capability approach to justify and oppose the practice of euthanasia debate. This approach is used to identify a space in which one can make cross-cultural judgments. This approach is indebted to traditional ethical theories like deontology, consequentialism and virtue ethics. This approach is commonly used as a possible solution for problems that arise due to globalization. The advocate and opponents use dignity in relating ethical traditions in relation to human rights to defend their cases.

It provides philosophical critiques of the capability approach. It criticizes asymmetrical power relations and also raises questions on what constitutes a capability. This approach is applied to advance a number of areas of applied philosophy that include disability ethics and the environment. Question 2 Kantian ethical theory revolves around the moral law that is deontological. This theory has three formulations to act on which are the universal law of nature in the concept of acceptable action, unfailing will and perfect duties ethically.

Utilitarian ethical theory starts with cases, which deduce general principles that are used to measure consequential pattern. Contract ethics theory involves a mutual agreement reached between two or more parties. Kantian ethical theory acknowledges the precepts of self-preservation, real and apparent benefit that lead to a flourishing. However, euthanasia creates a double effect that can be used for justification if it is a secondary consequence of a primary intention. Utilitarianism adopts euthanasia rightly when one is in a lot of pain that is intense and incurable.

Euthanasia is not applicable when an elderly person wants to die due to depression. Contract ethics entails that; euthanasia may be the best thing to do due to a situation but not the right thing. Question 3 The main object for cloning idea was to produce biological children who are related, avoid genetic diseases, obtain transplants that are rejection proof, to get a replica of a loved one and produce individual who are of immense genius, beauty and talent. This is in supporting the parent in their significant expectations from their kids.

In the utilitarian view, this may be beneficial for human in providing freedom. However, human freedom is not substantial qualification for cloning as a practicing right because it prohibits human rights in production which is not restricted but has many options rather than it. Question 4 Morality refers to codes of conduct put together and accepted by the society. These codes of conducts give conditions that would be adhered to by all rational persons. The concept of morality refers to the adherence to already existing codes of conduct in the society and applies to all human beings in the universe.

Morality is inherent in the manner that it is a personal idea. It is a man-made concept that is defined by the society in which we live. It is also what a person regards as wrong or right. What a person decides as morally right or wrong is determined by person idea and principles. For example; Vegans hold a moral view that exploiting sentient animals for any purpose either food, clothing, entertainment or scientific is immoral and archaic. Ethics is objective components of morals. Morality encompasses both moral and ethical concepts.

If morality consisted exclusively of social system principles that are imposed then there would be no space for personal interpretation; this makes it ethical hence objective. Question 5 Ethics and morality entail the principle of justice and sustainability which states that equals should be treated equally unless there is sufficient reason for unequal treatment to anyone. This is exceedingly relevant in the field of ethics known as environmental justice. Sustainability extends justice into the future.

Moreover, it involves meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising future generation’s abilities to meet their needs. The principle of sufficiency entails that all forms of life are entitled to life and flourishing. This means no one has the authority to hoard resources that are intended for the sufficiency of all. This moral understanding involves compassion. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the needs for others in the consideration of what is valuable to us as an ethical concern.
