Despite the typical believe Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines still play a key role in business ethics. Business is a system of moral doctrines applied in the commercial world. Business ethics is a whole new scientific area since it merges politics and law theory as much as historical documents and philosophical. Ethics becomes a term rely on flexible and have several different aspects. It gives rules for acceptable behavior by business in both their day-to-day operations and strategy formulation (Shaw, 2008). An ethical approach is becoming essential both for business success and a positive corporate image, and this is easily enhanced through various Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines. Especially nowadays ethics in the organization are obligated since many businessmen are only fascinated in making money despite the harm they would probably cause to people, the ethical costs environmental pollution. Many businesses in contemporary society are making public commitment and pledge to ethical business by designing codes of conduct and operating standards the truth is Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines should be their main basis. Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines incorporate the common ethical guidelines of Christianity and Judaism, such as the Ten Commandments. It has been an essential part of U.S civil religion and is often used to enhance inter-religious cooperation and basis for business ideologies. It covers the common ethical standards of Judaism and Christianity, such as the Ten Commandments. It has been a segment of American civil religion and is used to promote inter-religious cooperation (Shaw, 2008).Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines emphatically teach in clarity the great importance of the preservation of human life and respect. This should form the basis of the business ethics and can help foster good relation. If business does not grant this respect and protection for the born and unborn in their operations then there is no basis for their existence, all other professed values and morals are meaningless, since they are no longer undergirded by the greatest basic of human needs. The dignity of human life is not only a doctrine of the Bible, but it is the foundation principle of any civilized group. For instance, ethical relations between the business and the environment are of importance (Reamer, 2006). Issues such as pollution, carbon emissions, and other environmental degradations are avoidable. Issues of environmental ethics in business are important considerations, and the business can use Judeo-Christian principles and biblical doctrines to ensure they adhere. Furthermore, through this values product testing ethics such animal testing and animal rights and, use of economically disadvantaged groups as test can be avoided in business. Judeo-Christian values and biblical doctrines emphatically teach in clarity the great importance of the fairness and family and neighbor love. The main idea in Judeo-Christianity is always non-self-interested love (Reamer, 2006). This is defined as the self-awareness of others’ individuality. Jesus’ main message was to teach and clarify this love, which is the peak of Hebrew prophesy. Through Jesus full willingness to embrace his pain and suffering and by his faith in reclamation in spite of it, He became a representative of all men. Judeo Christianity’s main text is the Bible as preserved in the Christian tradition and Jewish. It comprises of two sections: The New Testament and the Hebrew Bible. Both values advocates for morality and fair treatment human being. This is an aspect that the contemporary business can emulate and incorporate into their business. The aim of any business is maximizing profit and expands its operations. Without proper morals or ethics and dedicated team, these are but a dream. The only way a business can ensure workability of this goal is through fair treatment of its human resource. The ethics of human resource management (HRM) in business organization covers those ethical issues and concerns arising today around the employer-employee relationship, such as the duties and rights indebted between employer and employee. Today discrimination issues in business include discrimination on gender, age, race, religion among others(Reamer, 2006). These are concerns that can be solved through Judeo-Christian values and biblical principles and can go a long way to enhancing business ethics. Business scholars, philosophers, and others disagree about the role of business ethics in society. For instance, some suggest that the main purpose of a business is to maximize gains to its owners, or for the case of a publicly-traded affair, its shareholder. Thus, under this argument, only those business activities that increase shareholder and profitability value should be encouraged since any others role as a tax on profits has been catered for. However, some individuals point out that self-interest would still necessitate a business to adhere to basic moral rules and obey the law, since the impact of failing to do so could be very costly loss of licensure, in fines, , or company image. Some take the position that businesses are not capable of moral intervention (Reamer, 2006). Under this argument, ethical conduct is required of individual human beings, but not of a business or corporation. These are issues of great concern and need to be addressed until businesses adhere to Judeo-Christian values and biblical principles and incorporate them as part of their ethics they still have a long way to go in linking business goals with good company image (Brog, 2010). In conclusion, Judeo-Christian values and biblical principles are important in enhancing business ethics. Business is so dynamic and complex environment that requires guidelines to ensure it achieve its goals of maximizing profits and protect its image to the public.
